Going into 2024, 2023 will be a year for Jackson Mahomes to remember! While he was off to a great start, with his brother Patrick Mahomes’ team winning the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP title, the younger Mahomes was left with mixed emotions towards the end of the year. A walk down memory lane highlights three times the MVP’s sibling captured the Internet’s attention with his antics.
January was about the only low-key month for the TikTok influencer. He was busy attending his brother’s games and making reels for his 1.1 million followers. And then the Super Bowl happened.

After the game in which the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles and clinched the Super Bowl for the second time in five years of Patrick Mahomes, reporters flocked to the quarterback for his reactions. At Arizona’s State Farm Arena, Jackson grooved himself into the broadcast crew’s frame. When a producer motioned to him that he was in the frame and distracting viewers from the star of the show, he moved back.

But he got what he achieved and social media was instantly flooded with his “dance” video. He also posted three reels on TikTok. One with him on the field after the game, which was captioned “Waited all year to make this”. In another one, he could be seen dancing to a cover of Drake’s “Girls Want Girls” which was captioned, “LFG!! CHAMPSSSS.” In the final post, he could be seen running on the field with Patrick and Brittany’s firstborn, baby Sterling.
But some fans found his antics frustrating and circulated rumors on social media that Patrick Mahomes had asked his brother not to attend his games anymore. The elder Mahomes, however, shut them down, saying, “Y’all just be making stuff up these days 😂😂😂.” And then things went downhill.
Jackson gets embroiled in allegations
Just a few days after the Super Bowl, the 23-year-old was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and an additional count of misdemeanor battery, for grabbing the neck and forcibly kissing Aspen Vaughn, the owner of a KC restaurant. She was later subjected to threats and harassment from unknown people and was forced to shut down her restaurant after sales went crashing down. While the preliminary hearing was decided on August 31, it has since been postponed twice and is set to take place on January 3, 2024.

Then finally, after lying low for some time, he was spotted again after a long time on August 24, when he took to TikTok to post a video of him dancing to Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red”. 15-seconds into the video, a random driver could be seen coming over to him and handing him a piece of chewing gum. And then he continued to dance and lip-sync.

He has also been involved in other minor controversies due to his social media posts. And it has somewhat spilled onto Patrick Mahomes. When asked about his antics, Mahomes said, “It’s kind of a personal thing that I just kind of gotta keep to myself.” Here’s hoping that 2024 will be kinder to Jackson!
