Arnold Schwarzenegger recently shared a more personal side of his interests, specifically his admiration for American football. Despite his love for the game, Schwarzenegger revealed in a candid conversation that he was never invited to participate in the sport, a fact that seems almost incongruous given his athletic background and larger-than-life persona.

In the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, the Austrian Oak spoke to the Kelce brothers about his unfulfilled desire to play in the NFL.

“You had to have been asked to play football at some point,” Jason Kelce posed to Schwarzenegger, to which he responded, “No, I’ve never been asked because I tell you why. Because now I have killed my drive.” His dedication to bodybuilding and the consuming nature of his training and career may have pigeonholed him in a way that limited opportunities in other sports, despite his evident interest.

“I always loved it. That was always mesmerized of how it can be so popular and how people can get into it and train can eat and this then it becomes kind of fantastic as a whole,” Schwarzenegger reflected. The former California governor also touched on the inspirational aspect of watching excellence in sports: “I always say that if you watch the best, no matter what it is or what sport, I mean it is absolutely inspirational.” This sentiment echoes Schwarzenegger’s own journey to excellence in his fields, from bodybuilding to acting and politics.

It’s a reminder that even icons like Arnold Schwarzenegger have unfulfilled dreams and untapped potential, just like the rest of us. But Travis, at least, is not going to give up on his Hollywood dreams.

Jason and Travis Kelce have been on a secret career move in Hollywood and have been in Los Angeles doing interviews for parts. That is, if you believe Arnold Schwarzenegger, at least. Travis has made no secret of his desire to pursue the entertainment industry once he retires from the NFL. And Schwarzenegger couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tease the reason the world-famous NFL siblings are on the West Coast this week.

Arnie exposed the Kelce brothers, “I am not stupid. Nobody is going to spill the beans but I know exactly why these guys are out here together in Hollywood. There are all kinds of interviews scheduled, for movie parts. You have it all set up, you are just not going to give it away, I know how you work.” Jason and Travis smiled at each other uncomfortably and immediately diverted the conversation to another topic.
