Patrick Mahomes threw a pick-six to Jack Jones, quickly becoming the center of doubt around the Chiefs’ offense. The Kansas City Chiefs have been losing some key games, which has lowered their chances of making it to a higher seed. Earlier, the contention was that the Chiefs receivers weren’t good enough to keep up with Mahomes’ magic, but things have changed. It is safe to say that this Monday Night Football game was quite embarrassing for the Chiefs.
Andy Reid spoke to journalists ahead of the game against the Cincinnati Bengals to address the Chiefs’ shortcomings and gave his insights about fixing them. Undoubtedly, the Chiefs have a communication problem, and it is more visible on live TV than in a mundane locker room argument. Several botched plays from the Chiefs against the Las Vegas Raiders have slowly contributed to their downfall.

Not long after he took the podium, Reid was asked about Mahomes’ magic fading away and him not being his usual self. Reid was asked whether there was one thing in particular that Patrick Mahomes was struggling with or whether these losses and constant errors had multiple reasons behind them, compounding over time. Coach Reid was diplomatic about the situation.
“Yeah, I mean, there are a variety of things. So, uh, you know again, I’ve got to help him with some of that, and then he is aware of what he’s got to work on, I’m aware of what I’ve got to work on, and nags feel the same way. So, we just make sure we’re right all the way around, but it’s, you know, takes everybody. It’s a team, so it takes everybody,” said Reid, addressing the questions about Mahomes.
After Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ dismal performance, fans wondered whether the jerseys in red were cut out from Super Bowl material. The Chiefs are still the division toppers in the hunt for the playoffs. If Mahomes’ passes don’t lead to picks and they don’t make goofy plays, they might get a shot at the playoffs.

The Chiefs’ QB was sacked four times throughout the game, and his taking all these sacks raises more questions about the Chiefs’ O-Line. Patrick Mahomes was seen yelling at them during a time-out. It didn’t take long for this national TV debacle to go viral on X (formerly Twitter).

The most noticeable Mahomes highlight was the pick he threw to Jack Jones, who mocked him as he headed for the TD. Also, the Chiefs’ offensive pieces dropping catches adds to the recipe for their downfall.

The Chiefs have a lot to fix right now and must do it quickly. The problem might not be with the receivers alone; it’s the O-Line, the defenders, and other offensive pieces. Also, lack of communication was something that stood out in the game.
