Chase Young has made his place into the San Francisco 49ers side! Coming in after being traded for the 2024 compensatory third-round draft, Young had a position to make in the San Francisco team. In a recent update following the player’s exit from the Commanders, the DE passed the last hurdle standing between his position of becoming a 49er.
Young was traded off by the Commanders on Tuesday following the loss against the Eagles. Fellow defensive end Montez Sweat followed him through the exit door, but their tickets were booked to different destinations from the national capital. However, in Young’s case, matters seem to be at ease with him crossing the final line to join the side.

Concerns were surrounding Young’s fitness as back in 2021, he had suffered from a severe issue in his right knee. Undergoing surgery at that time, the footballer had missed out on the majority of the 2022 season, with his 2021-2022 year not being the most ideal in terms of his expected performance.
However, the 49ers seemed to display full faith in the star and look to be fully ready to reap the benefits of the same, hopefully. GM John Lynch had mentioned Young’s medical fitness, elaborating how he looks to be in great condition currently. Looking at his performance, Lynch commented, “But it sure looks like he’s been healthy based upon what he’s been doing on the field.”

This is not the first time Chase Young and Nick Bosa have been teammates. The duo played for Ohio State University’s Buckeyes in 2017 and ’18 and combined for 12 and 14.5 sacks respectively. Bosa and Young were widely considered to be the NCAA’s most feared defensive end pair and they proved their worth in the NFL as well.
Bosa left Ohio to take part in the 2019 NFL draft and was crowned the Defensive Rookie of The Year. Just like a fairytale, Young followed his footsteps not only to the 2020 NFL drafts but to the honor as well. Young was crowned that season’s NFL Defensive Rookie of The Year.
Now, with his senior next to him again, Young can revive the future, for both himself and the 49ers. The two collegemates’ reunion for sure promises to be an exciting one, and no one will count on them more than Kyle Shanahan. The pair can face their earliest challenge on Sunday, November 12 as the team take on the in-form Jaguars. The game could be an early indication of things to come in the future, in either way.
