Do you know what the worst part of the loss was? It was how great they had started off this season. Everyone had high expectations of them. Then came the downfall. Jason said, “It’s a heck of a collapse.” He lamented the fact that Philly had started off 10-1. Then in the final weeks, they folded. They had lost 6 of their last 7 games.

Travis Kelce agreed and said it was “hard to watch them” lose. But Jason gave credit where it was due. He said that they played really well. However, he didn’t shy away from admitting his own team’s mistakes either. “Bottom line is nobody was good enough this year, down the stretch.” But did he blame any one player for the loss? Not at all. “I wasn’t. Players weren’t. Coaches weren’t. It’s a collective.”

Why the defeat is so significant for the Eagles

Starting off 10-1 brings a ton of expectations. They did pretty well when it came to beating mediocre teams. But when it came to taking on the tougher teams of the league, they tanked. Philly left the Bucs game 32-9. That’s a blowout loss. The margin of defeat was 23 points. And that’s a franchise record that they would not be proud of. It’s the second-largest in the team’s otherwise illustrious history. They had lost by 24 points last in 1992.

In the later part of the season, they failed to run the ball, block offensive players, or cover them. In the last seven games, they lost by an average of 15 points. They did not look anything like the team that made it to the climax last year. Now, as the team enters the offseason prematurely, they will not have Jason with them.
