One of the most hotly contested games at the beginning of the playoffs will be played on one of the coldest evenings. The matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins is on everybody’s radar, but so is the cold weather. How will the weather play a part in this exciting game?
With temperatures predicted to be around -3 degrees with a wind chill of -30 degrees, this game will certainly present a different challenge to the players. And the veteran football analyst Greg Cosell has a scary prediction for all the receivers.

Greg Cosell appeared on the Ross Tucker podcast. His insights have always been on point. But receivers like Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Rashee Rice have been put on notice with Cosell’s forecast. With the game set to break several cold weather conditions records, the players have never felt anything like this before.
‘It’s not so much the quarterback it is the receivers…it is like catching a rock.”@GregCosell explains how the weather could affect the passing game between the Dolphins and Chiefs on Saturday night in KC: pic.twitter.com/cMkUXrzHoQ

Cosell explained on the pod that the passing game will be down in the game. Though limited visibility conditions might play a factor, Cosell believes it’s the players who will shy away from passing.
The QBs will not cause this hindrance as Cosell said, “It’s not so much the quarterback it is the receivers…it is like catching a rock”. The extreme conditions will harden up the leather and catching the ball thrown at high speeds will be especially painful. But will the Chiefs fare better in these temperatures?

The Chiefs are used to the cold
The team from the Sunshine State of Florida, the Dolphins aren’t habitual of playing in the cold. But, even the Chiefs haven’t seen these temperatures ever in their history. The coldest game the Chiefs participated in was in 1983 against the divisional foes Denver Broncos. That game was played at 0.5 degrees with a -19-degree wind chill.
Also, this is set to be the coldest the Dolphins have ever participated in as well. Their last coldest outing was back at the Arrowhead Stadium itself in 2008. And the Dolphins came out on top defeating the Chiefs at 10 degrees with a -12-degree wind chill.
