Sometimes, names give an illusion. Particularly when the last name is the same. Terron Armstead and Arik Armstead play two radically opposite positions on the gridiron. While Terron plays as an offensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins, the latter is a defensive end for the Jacksonville Jaguars. We know what y’all are thinking, what’s the connection between both? Let’s explore that.

While both share the same surname, they aren’t related by blood or have any other family ties. The OT was born in Cahokia, Illinois, and played college football for the University of Arkansas. The DE, born 2000 miles apart in Sacramento, California, represented the University of Oregon in the NCAA. In 2024, both are playing for teams based in the same state, Florida.

On the career front, though, Terron has been a clear winner. Featured among the Top 100 Players of the NFL list in multiple seasons, he has also been a part of the Pro Bowl team for 5 years. In 2022, he signed a 5-year $75 million deal with guaranteed money of $43.37 million. Arik, on the other hand, has limited success in the NFL. In his 10th year, he has never featured in NFL Top 100 players list or on a Pro Bowl team. The DE signed a 3-year $51 million contract with the Jaguars in 2024. The DE launched a similar project named Armstead Project in 2019 with his wife, Melinda, to educate children living in Sacramento and the Bay Area of California. Terron supports the kids of St. Clair County through his Terron Armstead Foundation. The OT works to provide quality education opportunities.

The tackle welcomed twin daughters, Triniti and Tatiana, with his girlfriend Jasmine Tucker on 30 October 2012. He was studying in college then. An enthusiastic dad, he got their faces and names tatted on his left arm in June 2014. On May 29, 2017, he welcomed his son, Tristan Truth Armstead. His 3 children are slowly taking steps in the world of sports in one way or another.

In January 2023, when his daughters opened their Instagram account, Terron Armstead shared a photo with them. He mentioned in the caption that both have been playing basketball for more than a year. His son is preparing himself to carry his football legacy by playing football. The OT posted a photo of Truth holding the ball with the caption, “Happy 7th Birthday to my young king!! Big Truth!! 💙 So proud of you everything you are! I love you with all I got! 🙌🏾”

In his 12th NFL season, he is trying to achieve the ultimate glory, a Super Bowl. Dolphins have the potential. Last year, they lost to the Chiefs. Can they do it this year? We’ll find out in a few months.
