Cheeseheads aren’t happy with the outcome of the historic game in Brazil. The Packers lost by 34-29. However, what stunned everyone was the injury to their quarterback, Jordan Love. HC Matt LaFleur was unaware of the impact after the game. Now we know! He has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL that may put him out of action for a few weeks.
Since then, there have been only speculations. Reports claimed that the Packers might reach out to quarterbacks, such as Ryan Tannehill. However, everything is on hold for now. Insider info! NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed that the team isn’t seeking any veteran QB, including Tannehill, and their focus is only on Malik Willis and Sean Clifford.

The #Packers have not reached out and are not expected to pursue any veteran quarterbacks, including Ryan Tannehill, per sources.
The team expects Jordan Love back on the sooner end of the initial 3-6 week timeline and are focused on preparing Malik Willis and Sean Clifford.

With Jordan Love expected to return in 3-6 weeks, the team needs someone strong to lead. The rumor about Tannehill was started by The Athletic’s Diana Russini who claimed that the Packers reached out to the free-agent quarterback. She tweeted, “While there is no deal right now, the Green Bay Packers have reached out to free agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill.” That would have been a good move.
He is a veteran quarterback who knows the league inside out. Tannehill has 34,881 passing yards and 64.3% passing accuracy in 13 NFL seasons (except 2017 when he was ruled out of season because of injury). The only worrying part is his 81-70 win-loss record in 155 games. However, he has the necessary experience to play for the Packers.

The locker room prepared for the season with Jordan Love. Without him, they are forced to look for other signal callers.
Jordan Love injured. Who else do the Packers have?
The Packs don’t have much depth in their quarterback department. The first option, Malik Willis, has only 11 games in which he started only 3 as starting QB. With 352 passing yards,55.2% passing accuracy, and zero touchdowns, he doesn’t give much confidence. The 3rd rostered QB is Sean Clifford, with an experience of only 2 games and 37 passing yards. Disappointed Cheeseheads showed their worries in the comments section of Tom Pelissero’s tweet.

While few confused fans wanted to know who among Pelissero or Russini was right, many predicted a 0-4 result in the first 4 games of the 2024 season. While a hopeful fan chimed and wrote, “He must be only missing 1-2 weeks then“, another one cheered for the backup Willis to take center stage and commented, “Malik Willis season.” For now, the team is focused on him (Willis).
Is that a right move? Both QBs have not started games for them in the NFL. They play their second game on September 15 against the Indianapolis Colts. Cheeseheads, how should they proceed? Let us know in the comments.
