Is Derrick Brown's injury the final nail in the coffin for the Panthers this season?

Carolina Panthers suffered a humiliating loss against the New Orleans Saints during their Sunday season-opener. Quoting the popular internet meme trend, it seems that the Panthers are ‘cooked’ because one of their best players could be out for the remaining season. Although this isn’t the first injury of the season, things look serious for Derrick Brown.

The defensive tackle of the team suffered a concerning blow to his knee during the worst season-opener in Panthers’ history. As per NFL Network, it could be season-ending. Sources have a few more pieces of information that you might be interested in.

The news broke through an internal source. Back then, tests were still due to determine how severe the injury was. He has been reported to have endured a meniscus injury. If not during the entire season, then the footballer could certainly sit out at least half of the playoffs.

Meniscus happens when a certain knee tissue tears itself because of too much twisting. It may take up to 12 weeks for it to heal because it doesn’t heal itself if the tear is past 1 cm. Although common in athletes, Brown may be down for good for the rest of the season.

So far, we don’t have any information about how Brown got this injury during the game. He was present during 60 of the total 66 snaps. The NFL star may have twisted his knee in the middle of the heated game. After all, the Panthers were seemingly under a lot of pressure because of the humiliating score. That night, another footballer got injured during a different game and things don’t look good for him either.

Injuries are already flanking the NFL athletes left and right. While the Panthers were struggling against the Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers were busy fighting their own battles elsewhere. Although the Bucs ended up winning, they still had to send away one of their stars to the medical team because of an injury that he sustained. Although the injury spot wasn’t replayed, it is likely that the accident happened while Bryce Hall was defending against the Washington Commanders. Later on, a truck was seen carrying the cornerback away from the main field.

He joined hands to thank the audience present in the stadium while a medical personnel covered his leg with a cloth on the way. Hall didn’t seem too cheerful at the moment due to understandable reasons. While we are yet to receive any updates about the severity of his injury, it is likely that Hall will sit at the sides, watching his team play while he recovers, at least for a few more games. Brown, on the other hand, may be out for good this year, but we have got our fingers crossed because the Panthers need him to restore their glory.
