Did Sirianni's slip reveal more about Hurts' ankle than the Eagles want us to know?

Jalen Hurts has been leading the Philadelphia Eagles through a strong season, with the team currently on a four-game win streak. His impressive performances, especially his leadership in close games, have helped the Eagles position themselves as serious contenders. With a crucial divisional game against the Dallas Cowboys coming up, Hurts’ health is a top priority.

In a press conference, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni may have accidentally disclosed that the quarterback is dealing with an ankle issue. When questioned about Hurts’ absence, Sirianni initially responded, “Yeah, you know, he’s dealing with… the ankle,” before quickly correcting himself to “rest” in a slightly awkward exchange, as if not mentioning any injury.

This discrepancy caught reporters’ attention, prompting them to question Sirianni further. Sirianni backtracked slightly, claiming he thought the question was about a different player, attempting to clarify that Hurts was only limited due to “rest.” This mix-up has left fans wondering if there’s more to Hurts’ condition than the Eagles are disclosing.

Despite the confusion, Hurts returned to full practice on Thursday, suggesting he is still on track to start against Dallas. While the Eagles may be simply cautious, Sirianni’s comments have fueled speculation about a potential ankle issue, leaving fans anxious about Hurts’ long-term health as the Eagles push further into the season.

Speculations still remain based on the injury of the QB. If all Hurts is serious, we can only hope for the fast recovery of him ahead of the Cowboys game, this Sunday.

Have an interesting take?

Jalen Hurts has been quietly managing a mild ankle issue for several weeks. Despite some soreness, Hurts hasn’t missed any games or shown significant limitations on the field. ESPN’s Tim McManus described it as “lower leg soreness,” suggesting that recent rest days were precautionary, especially with the Eagles’ busy schedule, including two divisional games within five days.

Hurts was a spectator for individual drills on Wednesday but participated in team walkthroughs, suggesting he’s on track to play in Week 10 against Dallas. So far, Hurts has been impressive, ranking fifth in total touchdowns (18) and tying for the league’s most 20+ yard passing TDs (7).

Besides Hurts, the Eagles are monitoring other key players. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith missed practice with a hamstring issue, while cornerback Darius Slay (groin) and wide receiver A.J. Brown were limited earlier this week. Tight end Dallas Goedert, coming off a hamstring injury, returned to practice alongside these players.

In short, while Hurts and some teammates are nursing injuries, they’re likely to push through for the critical upcoming games.
