Could Davante Adams be the missing piece for the Jets, or just another overhyped rumor?

Is the Raiders wide receiver soon finding a comfortable home for himself? Davante Adams had earlier reportedly requested a trade from the organization on Monday. Since then, fans have been speculating on his next potential landing spots in the league. Among multiple speculations, one major opinion that is coming out this week is the New York Jets.

And to ignite the social media, one Jets’ fan, Vinny Michael posted a tweet, allegedly saying that Davante Adams’ next spot could be in New York. He shared a picture on X on October 3, in which he could be seen with the Jets’ owner, Chris Johnson. Now, many other social media users guess it as fake or cardboard cutout images.

In fact, not even the owners of the Jets, Davante Adams, or any well-known source have commented on it. This means that the post can be fake, and it might just be cooked up by a Jets’ fan. Nevertheless, the fan post was deleted on X, and hence, it was re-shared by another Jets’ fan on Reddit, with the caption, “Tweet has since been deleted so hence the screenshot. Maybe Chris had a few too many or maybe this fan is making s-it up.

Besides these, on the other hand, Davante Adams has himself posted a cryptic Instagram story on Friday. That story contains a quote from Edgar Allan Poe, which reads: “BELIEVE NOTHING YOU HEAR AND HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE.” So, does that mean Adams is trying to say that the speculations fans are hearing aren’t real, and he isn’t moving to his former teammate, Aaron Rodgers’ team?

But here’s the interesting part: Edgar Allan Poe, the author of ‘The Raven,’ lived in Baltimore, and his work inspired the Ravens’ team name and mascot. So, by sharing his quote, is Davante Adams hinting that he might join the Baltimore Ravens? Well, only time will tell what’s going on in the NFL world and in Adams’ head.

Will Davante Adams move to a new team?

It’s been a tornado for Davante Adams and the Raiders lately. After a rocky start to the season, Adams has reportedly told the Raiders he is open to being traded. Why? Well, because it seems he’s tired of the team’s struggles, especially after joining them from the Packers with high hopes in 2022. The problem with the Raiders has been their quarterback situation, which hasn’t helped him. Hence, Adams seems ready for a change. But where will he go, if a trade happens?

The first option that comes in the minds of many is that he’s eyeing a reunion with Aaron Rodgers in New York. The thought of reuniting with his former quarterback must feel tempting for his fans. And why shouldn’t they? The duo had something special in Green Bay, where Adams made a name for himself with five consecutive Pro Bowl seasons. That’s a huge achievement for sure! Now, with Rodgers back healthy, teaming up in New York could be a game-changer for the franchise and both the friends. But hold on! There seems to be more!

It’s not just the Jets. Adams is also reportedly open to several teams, including the 49ers, Cowboys, Saints, and Bills. Well, it’s true that each of these teams would love to have a talent like him, but his massive contract could complicate things. It is “primarily due to cap hits of $44.1 million in both 2025 and 2026. And none of the teams mentioned above are in position to pay that out.”

But now, with a new IG story, the wide receiver has opened up another slot for himself, which is the Ravens. However, the team has currently over $4 million in available salary cap space. And if they restructure some contracts, they can likely fix this problem, as according to Over The Cap, “the cost to trade for Adams today would be $13.526 million.” So, if a trade does happen, it’ll likely come with some negotiations on his end, restructures in the team, as well as Adams’ number dropping by “$968K each week he remains on the Raiders roster.

All in all, with the trade deadline looming, all eyes are on Davante Adams. Will he find a new home, or will he stick it out in Vegas?
