His dad, Marty Schottenheimer has possibly encouraged him to achieve his athletic goal. Marty Schottenheimer was also a former NFL head coach. He spent around 21 years as a head coach for 4 different NFL franchises. He mentored as an HC for the Browns, Chargers, Washington, and Chiefs. He took a break from his coaching career in 2006 to spend quality time with his wife, Pat Schottenheimer, and his NFL son.

Interestingly, Brian Schottenheimer, 51 is lucky enough. His mom, Pat, has also been his greatest cheerleader throughout his life journey. His parent’s professional and personal lives might inspire him. His parents have been married for 50 years and supported him and his other sibling Kristen throughout their life journey. How has father Marty Schottenheimer been the biggest influence in Brian Schottenheimer’s NFL career?

Brian Schottenheimer’s dad was a veteran coach in the NFL. Undoubtedly, his transitions from a linebacker to becoming the NFL head coach surely made his son’s heart soar. Starting his career as a linebacker in 1965, Schottenheimer’s father guided many players as the head coach for 4 different teams. Spending over 21 seasons in his head coaching career, Marty established his name as the legendary head coach with his remarkable milestones. Additionally, he accumulated eighth rank on the all-time head coaching wins list. And, garnering a 200-126-1 record in the regular season is his other biggest achievement which really inspired his son.

Impressively, like many other players, Brian’s dad who passed away in 2021 at the age of 77, also assisted his son. During his time with Redskins, Chiefs, and Chargers, Schottenheimer worked under his NFL dad, Marty Schottenheimer.

In 1998, Brian served as an assistant with the Chiefs under his dad. During that time, Marty was the Chiefs head coach. Not only this but when his dad became the Washington head coach in 2001, he also served as the quarterbacks coach. It was really an impressive father-dad duo in the NFL who enchanted many with their strong chemistry on and off the field. No wonder his parents have been his guiding light throughout his life journey. He wouldn’t have been able to achieve his NFL success without the true guidance of his dad. And, for this, Cowboy’s new HC is forever grateful.
