Baker Mayfield was dismantling the Atlanta Falcons’ defense with many of his offensive pieces missing from the game against the Atlanta Falcons. The Buccaneers were sitting on a comfortable 27-20 lead, but then Baker Mayfield got sacked by one of Atlanta’s pass rushers. He was slow to get up and limped off the field.
We did sense his pain after the broadcaster saw him “hobbling off on one knee” and going to the sidelines. However, he looks fine, he’s still padded up, so it might just have been a run-of-the-mill injury and nothing else. Mayfield was balling lights out before the Atlanta Falcons got the possession towards the end of the third quarter.
But it was no surprise watching Baker Mayfield return to the field at the start of the fourth quarter. The QB made big strides when he returned to the field as he rushed to get a first down with about 12 minutes remaining in the last quarter. The Bucs quarterback was running with all engines firing, so his sack was just an injury scare and nothing more.

His connection with Mike Evans has been phenomenal, as always. The Falcons started the game early as they put 7 points on the board and the Bucs QB didn’t waste time and replied with a touchdown pass to Mike Evans early in the fourth quarter. But that was just a 2-yard pass. It wasn’t as epic as the 23-yard dime Mayfield threw to Evans in the second quarter.
Mayfield faced a blitz with 10:20 remaining in the second quarter and decided to act quick. He found a wide-open Evans and simply ran it into the end zone. But let’s come back to the topic of injuries and how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are dealing with a roster filled to the brim with injured players.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers march forward with Baker Mayfield and an injured roster
The Bucs stepped into the Mercedes Benz Stadium with 7 of their players listed as “Out.” Despite the veteran safety Antoine Winfield Jr missing from the game, the Bucs have done a pretty great job of capping Kirk Cousins’ offense. Also, Baker Mayfield had to play without two of his no. 3 receivers tonight.
While Trey Palmer and Jalen McMillan were already listed out, the Bucs faced a setback when Kameron Johnson was ruled out of the game because of he contracted an ankle injury. He’s had a bad ankle since almost the start of the season. The rookie even missed a game against the Broncos. However, he was seen on the bike, trying to nurse his ankle.

Johnson might join Calijah Kancey, Luke Goedeke, Devin Culp and Jake Carmada and might not play the next game because they don’t have a bye week coming anytime soon.
