“Blank sheet, new chapter!” That’s the vibe with which the Las Vegas Raiders are going to go into the offseason. That must mean major new changes, right? The Raiders were doing so poorly that they had to fire their head coach and general manager. Antonio Pierce took to lead the Raiders as the new HC. And it seems that he has impressed the ownership.

Besides, that they’re also looking to start afresh with a new quarterback. But if a certain QB gets into the team, it will be like hitting two birds with one stone. The QB in question happens to have prior experience with Pierce. That means they can skip over the whole transitioning phase and get right down to business.

It’s been a tough season for the Raiders. They ended up with a losing 8-9 record. But there was one silver lining. As soon as Pierce took charge of the Raiders, the atmosphere in the locker room shifted. Some players even made calls for the owners to discard the “interim” prefix. And now the Raiders’ X account reported something positive.

Antonio Pierce is no more “interim” head coach. He is just Head Coach now. He was the linebackers’ coach before being raised to HC status. And under him, the Raiders surprisingly had a winning record! They were 3-1 under him. Of course, as everyone remembers, the shining glory came when they defeated the Chargers by 63 points.

Still not convinced? If not for him, the Raiders wouldn’t have these rankings: 10th in the league in terms of takeaways, the team with fewest penalties, 3rd in sacks, lowest in terms of points allowed per game, and 5th in turnover margin. Now, as the Draft of 2024 fast approaches, he brings with him another advantage.

Jayden Daniels to find a familiar face in the Raiders

The squad may bid adieu to veteran QB Jimmy Garoppolo. He doesn’t come cheap. Moreover, the Raiders feel that they haven’t got their money’s worth out of him. The team could for sure bring over Justin Fields, but @nflrums shared that someone else might be on the wish list. And besides, it fits in well with their “clean slate” motor for the upcoming year. They might just recruit someone who’s never played in the NFL.

Going into April, the Raiders have the 13th overall pick. And guess who’s up for grabs? Jayden Daniels. What’s so special about him? Other than being a top-class QB, he has a deep connection with Pierce. The HC had recruited Daniels to Arizona State. And he killed it there and hoisted the Heisman Trophy with the team. However, he did not forget Pierce, and gave him a shout out in his acceptance speech.

Could Daniels end up in the same locker room as Pierce in April? Only time will tell.
