A bit of friendly teasing never harmed anyone! Games usually fade from memory unless something historic goes down. But a slip-up that turns into a meme or a quirky interview response? That stuff lives on the internet forever. So, in this week’s NFL drama, fans witnessed something funny during the Dolphins vs Raiders game. The Dolphins were facing off against the Raiders at their home turf, Hard Rock Stadium, when something unusual happened that even got Tyreek Hill laughing.
The Dolphins won 34-19, but something happened in the third quarter of the game that’s got everyone talking. To give you a context, a twist came in when the Dolphins tricked Raiders DE Maxx Crosby. The move gave Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel another chance to show off his humorous side.
He yelled at Maxx from the sideline, letting him know he had been tricked. “We didn’t even have a play called Maxx,” shouted Mike, leaving the DE bamboozled. The video of Mike from the game made its way onto the internet and had netizens cracking up. Even Tyreek Hill jumped in on the fun, sharing the clip on his X account. “Our coach so lame and I love it (laughing emoji)”, wrote Reek.

During the third quarter, the Dolphins had moved the ball into Raiders’ territory after converting a third-and-8. QB Tua hit WR ‘Reek’ for an 18-yard gain. They were hurrying to get one more play-off before the clock ran out. Here’s the kicker: what seemed like a quick snap attempt was in reality, a clever move by the Dolphins.
On a first-and-10 at the Raiders’ 40-yard line, Tagovailoa had TE Jonnu Smith motion from right to left, then used a loud snap count. This move tricked the Raiders’ star pass rusher, Maxx Crosby, into jumping offside as he reacted to the snap, thinking it was coming towards him. And what went down next, you know!
Well, this incident has earned Mike the crown for the most entertaining coach win! But there is more to the story. While some users are loving his sideline antics, others are calling out to Mike for trying too hard to look cool. Not only that, netizens are also blasting Tyreek Hill, for using a term that doesn’t sound too endearing, after he captioned the video as ‘lame.’

Mike comes off as one of the most relatable coaches out there. With his humor and laid-back sideline vibe, he’s not your typical ‘serious, no-nonsense’ coach. And the Dolphins players vibe with it, they feel like they can connect with him on a personal level. But don’t forget, he’s not here just to joke around. Coaching an NFL team isn’t an easygoing job. When things go wrong, people will grab your collars.
And Mike knows this pretty well. He doesn’t shy away from giving his squad a dose of reality whenever it’s needed. Earlier this year, when the Dolphins faced the Chiefs in the AFC Wild Card Round, he called out Tyreek Hill for a mistake he made. Hill was knocked off the line of scrimmage by Chiefs’ CB Sneed, which left Mike disappointed. He called him out, saying how could he let Sneed easily kick him off, and if this is what they were paying him huge money for? Whoa! That’s hurtful.
But Hill didn’t mind his coach’s words. Although he does take it to heart, he does so in a way that helps him come out better. He knows that as a senior WR; he has to set a good example for others.
