Derrick Henry's 'two-five-zero-k' diet: Is this the secret to his unstoppable power on the field?

While the Ravens are currently leading the Cowboys in Dallas to record their first win of the season. RB Derrick Henry is seemingly getting all the attention as he recorded 2 TDs, 122 rushing yards, and 145 total yards this weekend. Well, what’s the secret behind those insane numbers that Henry has managed to put up against the Cowboys?

As the broadcasters were caught discussing, it might be his quarter-of-a-million diet that allowed Henry to do wonders with his body. But this is not the first time that Henry has managed to garner attention for the strict diet he follows away from the gridiron. After going through a difficult period during his Titans tenure, the Ravens RB decided to change his diet routine.

Even his financial adviser, Pete Katos, spilled the beans behind the RB’s diet spending, “$240,000 yearly on body maintenance.” But how does he manage to pull such an insane diet routine? Well, there is a personal chef who is there all the time to prepare food for the Ravens RB whenever he is hungry. While he prepares his food, Henry stays away from fried, gluten, dairy or even artificial sugars to maintain a strict diet routine.

Instead, the 30-year-old eats kale, an avocado, and a banana to get himself up and running before his games. As we learn about his diet, Henry also maintains strict timing with the food he eats throughout the day. His first meal comes at around 1 p.m. when it’s the offseason, while he eats at 4 or 5 p.m. during the regular season. But as Henry added, each of those meals is quite heavy, to say the least, “I probably eat three chicken breasts, some rice and broccoli. Then I have some gluten-free pancakes, scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, home fries and some steak.”

Well, not only the diet, Henry also loves hitting the gym whenever he is away from gridiron duties, “I am going to spend time somewhere. It probably will be a gym because that’s what I love being.” However, this routine certainly paid dividends as the Ravens finally won their first game of the season against the Cowboys.

After the Saints ended their 16-game unbeaten run in the regular campaign at home. This was supposed to be a match where the America’s team brought their best plays to put the Ravens’ season to bed. However, it didn’t happen the way they would have expected, as the match finished 25-28 in favor of Baltimore.

Although it looked like a narrow win, it wasn’t the case throughout the game. As the Ravens were up 28-6 going into the fourth quarter. It was a familiar feeling for the Ravens as the Cowboys mounted a late charge into the clash. But it wasn’t enough as the Ravens managed to hold on to their game while the Cowboys have lots to ponder upon after losing two straight home games this season.

Going into next week, will the Cowboys manage to turn around their season that is seemingly falling apart? Or will it be the Ravens who make a gargantuan comeback to get their season rolling? Only time will tell as we wait for next week’s action in the NFL.
