The Jets’ Aaron Rodgers was not the only NFL athlete with an injured Achilles last year. Falcons’ QB, Kirk Cousins, also wound up rupturing his tendon just a little over a month later. The 35-year-old had undergone surgery and seemed to be in good spirits as he showed off his scar a few months ago on the Pat McAfee Show. He even joked that he would love to try foot and ankle modeling after it healed up.
Now, three months after his appearance on the podcast, the quarterback revealed on an episode of Bussin’ With The Boys that he had been in a “dark place” in his head. However, reading up about other celebrities who had gone through the same thing helped him. Many NBA legends wound up on the list. However, the 35-year-old stated that Al Gore, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tiger Woods, Russell Crowe, and more had stolen his attention. It even wound up being Crowe’s decision to opt out of surgery that made Cousins rush into it head-first.
Cousins stated, “Russell Crowe elected not to have surgery and like it never got better so like 12 years later he got surgery.” He may have learned from the actor’s mistake and got his injury dealt with immediately. However, the 35-year-old was more interested in the telling of another story. He continued, “Brad Pitt ironically, tore his Achilles while playing the role of Achilles for the movie, Troy. Filming was suspended for like 4-6 weeks.”

Cousins got through his injury with his hilarious sense of humor and the mutual suffering of his peers. However, he also revealed that Rodgers had also helped him out quite a bit.

How Aaron Rodgers helped the Falcons’ QB during his Achilles injury
Last year, both Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins were in the same boat with torn Achilles tendons. The 40-year-old had been injured during his debut match with his new team and had to sit out the rest of the season. However, he made his comeback to practice only 11 short weeks after his surgery. During the same episode of Bussin’ With The Boys, the 35-year-old was asked whether he had been in touch with the other quarterback, who had even helped other injured players.
Cousins stated, “I didn’t even know what to ask really, but he was great. He was helpful. Gave me his perspective, his thoughts, what you want to focus on and then I probably circled back with him in December on our bye week.” The Falcons QB also added that Rodgers had already been trying to get back on the practice field. The 40-year-old had helped get the star through the injury. However, it looks like the younger athlete is taking his own sweet time before getting back out there.

Even during the interview, Cousins mentioned that he had been recovering for the last 6 months. He added that doctors stated it would take 9 months before the quarterback could join his teammates again. However, his “competitive spirit” might make it happen a bit sooner.
