As the regular NFL season has ended, so has Pete Carroll‘s time with the Seattle Seahawks. After the legacy of 14 seasons and leading the team to a Super Bowl, the goodbye did not come easy for the HC. The 72-year-old got emotional after having to leave the team that he’s spent so much time with. He appeared in the presser and talked about his bond with the Seahawks, its players, and coaches.
The Seahawks finished the season with a 9-8 record and are out of the playoff conversation. Carroll mentioned that his departure was a mutual decision taken for the betterment of the team. While this season has been full of ups and downs for the Seahawks who struggled in quite a few games, Carroll believes that the Seattle team’s future is “bright “.

Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks have decided to part ways after an underwhelming season. During the recent press conference, the 72-year-old mentioned how his departure came out of the necessity to take the club in a “different direction”. Coach Carroll addressed how the team is looking forward to a new leadership and is in the process of finding suitable candidates as of now.
The Coach said that he would still support the team to the best of his capability. When asked concerning his role in choosing the next Head Coach, Carroll sternly took a step back and expressed how that is not his job. However, he was grateful to the whole coaching staff for “putting up with him”. As he expressed his gratitude to the coaches in the Seahawks’ staff, the coach showcased his emotional side.
It was laced with advice. He added that his words of wisdom will be to understand the value of the relationship and how crucial it is because you are a team. Nonetheless, the experienced NFL coach trusted the management to take the best care of the players and the team. Amidst all these conversations concerning the Seahawks’ coaching staff, the coach felt sorry for those whose jobs were affected due to the reshuffling of the system.
Pete Carroll said, “I’m so sorry, so heartfully sorry for the families. You all don’t realize how deep this runs. You know, just going, next coach, next day, what’s gonna happen, what’s the future and all that. There’s people in this thing and it breaks my heart that so many people get shocked and adjusted and surprised.”

Looking at the coach’s words and concern for the team urges one to look at the glorious career he has had with the Seahawks. He took the team into two Super Bowls, won one of them, and finished his career with the Seahawks with a 137-89-1 record.
A window into Carroll’s extensive career with the Seahawks
The team quickly garnered all the fame when it was in its “Legion of Boom” era. The era was known for players like Richard Sherman, Bobby Wagner, and Bruce Clark on defense while others like Marshawn Lynch, the then-rookie QB Russell Wilson, who ran the offense and took the 2013 Super Bowl title.

Under Carroll’s rein, the Seahawks won a Super Bowl, clinched two NFC Championships, and 5 NFC West titles. For now, the Seahawks are in the market for a new HC headed by John Schneider, the Seahawks’ GM since 2010. The Seahawks also left a thank you note for the departing coach on X as well, highlighting the magnificent career of Carroll with the squad.
