The Deflategate scandal rocked the world of the NFL back in 2015 when Tom Brady was accused of deliberately deflating the footballs in the AFC Championship between the Patriots and Colts. Years later, the dust has settled on the controversy, with even the quarterback cracking jokes about the incident in his recent Netflix roast. However, Jason Kelce recently voiced his full support for Brady’s possibly cheating!

On the podcast ‘New Heights,‘ the former Philadelphia Eagles center joked about how he “would try and cheat everything.” In the banter with his brother Travis, he further went on to say that Brady shouldn’t have gotten in trouble for the Deflategate controversy and why the rule is inherently “stupid.”

The retired NFL star went on a full-on rant about how “there’s an acceptable amount” of cheating that’s admissible. In typical Kelce fashion, the former center hyperbolized his stance by coming to the defense of Brady’s Deflatgate scandal. “I don’t even think Tom should have got in trouble for deflating footballs; I’m pro deflating footballs, I’ll say it, I’ll say it. I’m pro deflating footballs.

Travis chimed in by saying that people are just “trying to win,” to which Jason continued passionately, “Yeah, smarter people. Why the f**k does it matter how much air is in that motherf**ker. If you’re throwing it and catching it, who the f**k cares? We’re all mad because he had the common sense to fucking take a little air out so that his receivers can catch the fu**ing thing. Why is that against the rules?

Jason feels that Brady was just smart enough to take the air out to benefit his team, and if the opponent players were smart enough, they would have thought of it first! Travis, barely able to talk through his laughter, pointed out that there is a regulation rule against it; the older Kelce insisted that it was “stupid!

The NFL’s official rules state that teams must inflate the footballs to 12.5-13.5 psi in gauge pressure, and critics accused the Patriots legend of using footballs inflated below the minimum limit. Jason feels that the rule is pointless! “I’m saying if the rule isn’t protecting player or like if it’s only one team can do it, I get what you’re saying, but if both teams have the opportunity to do something and the other team’s just not as smart as the other team, I think it’s a stupid rule.”

The former center accused the league rule of “taking away intelligence” and even compared signal-stealing. “‘You’re in trouble for stealing our signs.’ You were f**king doing signals. You expected us not to look? Like get better signals. What the f**k are you talking about?” While Travis expressed his support for the signals, he clarified he doesn’t support his older brother moving the ball forward on the fourth and goal.

Jason, at first, tried to defend the move, saying that it was an unintentional push on the ball while getting in the forward lean stance. Upon getting his brother’s smug laugh in response, the former Eagles star unleashed his dramatic self, “You wanna know the truth? You can’t handle the truth. You’re goddamn right, I moved that ball forward.”

The NFL brothers had an interesting conversation about the “art of cheating” in their latest podcast episode, with Jason Kelce vouching for exploiting the rules for any possible advantage. If Tom Brady had the former center on his side back in 2015, who knows? Maybe it could’ve been a favorable hearing for the New England legend!
