“And the same old story for the Cincinnati Bengals,” said CBS announcer Ian Eagle. And this seems true after their slow start in the third consecutive season. The Bengals lost to the Patriots with the score of 16-10 in Week 1 and were trailed by 10 points before halftime without even a half touchdown. And after all this loss people are questioning their potential.
When asked about the game QB Joe Burrow replied, “Sunday game was not perfect by any means” saying after that, they are getting better with practice. He also added, “I’m Pretty Hard on Myself. We’re just looking to improve every day, go out on Monday and have our best game yet, hopefully get a win and then move on.” showing his excitement about Bengals the future games, saying he is working hard to make things better for his team.

The Bengals were so close to pulling it off! They almost had the win in the bag. But then, wouldn’t you know it, this rookie safety Anthony gets called for pass interference with less than a minute left. Talk about bad timing! That call gave the Chiefs new life on fourth down and put them in range to kick a field goal. And of course, Butker nails it – a 51-yarder right as the clock hits zero. Just like that, the Chiefs snatch a 26-25 win from the Bengals’ jaws. Tough break for Cincinnati, especially happening at Arrowhead. That place was probably going nuts!
Talk about déjà vu for the Bengals! This ain’t the first time they’ve had their hearts broken by the Chiefs like this. Remember that AFC Championship game back in ’22? Same deal – a late penalty gave Kansas City a chance to kick the game-winner. It’s like watching a rerun, but way more painful if you’re a Cincy fan.
You know, it’s crazy when you think about it. These two teams have been going at it like cats and dogs for the past four years. Six games, and every single one of them has been a nail-biter. We’re talking eight points or less each time, and get this – five of those were decided by just three points or less!

It’s like they can’t play a game without giving everyone heart palpitations. At this point, I bet fans on both sides are stocking up on antacids before kickoff. This rivalry is turning into quite the thriller series, huh?

After starting the game on offense Joe Burrow did not waste time to connect with tight end Mike Gesicki for his first down for 37-yard. And even though the Bengals were not close to endzone Evan McPherson’s field goal gave them a 3-0 lead. Until the 4th quarter, they were 23-22 ahead of the Chiefs. But in the final 2 minutes, Cincinnati was flagged for pass interference. Right after that, they got a penalty for illegally stopping the pass rusher and that’s when the coins turned. In the last 3 seconds, Chiefs’ kicker Harrison Butker made a 51-yard field goal leading to a 26-25 win for the Chiefs.
The Bengals were unhappy with this and accused the refs of being partial toward the Chiefs. When asked about the loss Burrow replied, “It was as frustrating as I’ve had,” regretting giving Chiefs extra points. Although Burrow was not the only one mad about the loss. Bengals’ legend T. J. Houshmandzadeh expressed his anger through X writing, “Give every game to the Chiefs rest of the season. Refs in their favor every game,” saying why should anyone play if they already know the result. Although after these losses Bengals will be more prepared to face their opponents and the future games will be very interesting.
