The New England Patriots have been trailing for most of the 2023 season, with a 2-7 score currently. The disappointments have led Bill Belichick to look for alternatives to put forth his NFL enthusiasm. Per the updates, it appears that Belichick is not on the same terms with the Patriots. After all, Belichick went from one of the most revered Super Bowl coaches to someone whose team is struggling to win a single game.

In the wake of all these disappointments, there are some rumors in the NFL. They have Bill Belichick under the spotlight. After coaching the Patriots for more than 23 seasons, some questions are looming around Belichick, so much so that he is considering a move; which may eventually result in his saying goodbye to his current squad.

The issues surrounding Bill Belichick

The Super Bowl Coach is reportedly frustrated with the team performing the way it is right now. According to Jason La Canfora, Bill Belichick has his eyes on the Washington Commanders and the Chicago Bears as his new project going forward. There is no doubt about Belichick’s coaching skills, he has proved this himself in the past many a time.

However, since Week 5, the coach and his team were under massive scrutiny. All thanks to the position they stood at on the leader board, the pressure on the Pats seemed visible on and off the field. Amidst this, numerous rumors surrounded Belichick, apart from the one coming forth about his interest in other teams.

One in particular highlighted the owner of New England Patriots Robert Kraft and his son Jonathan. According to the sources, the duo was found indulging in the conversation remarking, “We’re not good enough.” However, when the same was asked to the Pats coach, he did not shed any light on the same and added that he is going to control the things he can.

However, as the speculations concerning his inclination toward other NFL teams have been made public, all eyes remain on whether this will come true. Interestingly, if that happens who might come in place of the experience that Belichick brings to the team? And most importantly, as the question already posed in the tweet, would he be able to turn those teams around and give them a taste of his Tom Brady era?

Belichick’s future with the Patriots and his possible replacement

This is no news to anyone that Belichick did go through a reported deal with the Patriots to extend his stay with them. However, the things seem to have taken a drastic turn in the Pats camp. One of the key elements of this drastic step was brought forth by the ProFootballTalk Founder.

He said, “There’s some rumors out there on the grapevine, there’s some theories out there about potential candidates to take over the team [referring to Commanders], possibly a coach who we think is going to get fired by the Patriots but might be traded by the Patriots to the Commanders.” 

Interesting enough the NY Post had further shed light on this issue. They mentioned how Boston Globe’s Ben Volin reported that two close sources to the New England Patriots have indicated that they believe Mike Vrabel [Titans’ current coach] “is the Krafts’ ‘home run’ choice to succeed Belichick.”
