Soon after the upset against the Bucs, center Jason Kelce was reportedly seen being emotional in the locker room. ESPN insider Adam Schefter tweeted, “Six-time All-Pro and future Hall-of-Fame center Jason Kelce told his Eagles’ teammates in Monday night’s postgame locker room that he is in fact retiring.”

The reporter added, “The 36-year-old Kelce became visibly emotional at the end of the Eagles’ 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers. He has considered retiring after other recent seasons, but this time is said to be real and happening.” Following the Super Bowl LVII upset, many speculated that Kelce might retire before the 2023 season starts. But in March 2023, the athlete decided he wasn’t done with football yet. Therefore, he came back for another chance to clinch the title.

However, as they lost again, he reportedly finally decided to hang up his cleats from the league, fulfilling the wish that his wife, Kylie Kelce, had seen in 2023.

What’s next for Jason Kelce?

Once, in 2023, during a Prime Video documentary “Kelce,” Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie Kelce, revealed that the center has been deciding his retirement for years. She emphasized his retirement plans, saying, “I don’t think that people realize the beating you’re taking then impacts how you interact with your family.

She continued in the film, “I always tell people, no matter what happens with football, how it ends, I would like him to retire when he is still able to get down on the floor and play with our kids comfortably.” Later, Kylie also addressed football, saying, “I always am very quick to point out they’re compensated heavily, but it’s crazy as a 35-year-old man being in, like, a world of pain.”
