Lamar Jackson is probably the only quarterback this season who is never off the positive headlines. After resigning with the Baltimore Ravens, and that too, with a huge $260 million contract, the quarterback has brought the much-awaited laurels to his legacy and the team’s aura. Additionally, among his many admirers, he has recently gained a fan in the NFL veteran, Mike Vick.
According to RG3 and The Ones podcast last December, Vick praised Jackson and said that the 27-year-old quarterback “is the closest thing to him in modern football.” Now, Jackson in return is thinking of him, recalling the good old memories of when he was a child.

Lamar Jackson and his Ravens are in the final stage of the divisional round. They will be playing against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. However, amid the much-anticipated game, QB Lamar Jackson talked about his upcoming battle and his respect for Patrick Mahomes in a recent pregame press conference. During the presser, he was also asked to share some Mike Vick’s previous memories if he has any, by a curious reporter, especially after Vick’s parsing statement for Jackson.
To which the quarterback replied that he obviously remembers him and watched his game during his childhood days. Recalling one highlight of a game, Jackson said, “I really didn’t like football at the time, watching it at least, but once he [Mike Vick] went to the Eagles…..I remember the game from when they played against the Giants, the comeback game. That was a crazy game. He was still in his prime, but he wasn’t running as much, he was just throwing the ball all over the field” to his teammates, and “they were just going crazy. I remember a lot, definitely.”
As Jackson merrily recalled Vick’s game, there was a time when the two quarterbacks had a playful banter over the internet.
Mike Vick tried to force Lamar Jackson to play?
This past December, the Eagles retired QB Mike Vick, praised Lamar Jackson in RG3 and The Ones podcast, and referred to Jackson as the only modern quarterback who is playing closest to him. Vick further shared that “watching him now grow into a pure passer of the football” is one of the most delightful things in the league.
There is no doubt that Vick wants Jackson to grow, and succeed, as it was evident from a past incident too. Despite playing with the Eagles, before his retirement, Vick wanted Jackson and the Ravens to succeed in the previous season.

However, as Jackson got severely injured with a PCL grade 2 sprain in his knee, he missed the Ravens’ final six games of the year. Vick, who wanted the team to succeed anyhow in the playoffs to reach the Super Bowl, stated that Jackson should “put a brace on it”, and “Get it going.”

Although he made these remarks out of excitement, this statement didn’t sit well with many, even with the quarterback. Jackson then tweeted on X, “Thank you everyone for your support and concerns regarding my injuries….my knee remains unstable…I wish I could be out there with my guys more than anything but I can’t give a 100% of myself to my guys…”

Later, Vick responded to the criticism, clearing all doubts, and stating, “We cool; everything is all love.” Since then, everything has indeed been fine between the two.
