Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens visited the Levi’s Stadium and completely dominated the San Francisco 49ers. Jackson took all the attention to himself and laid the “Purdy for MVP” conversation to rest. This might have been one of the most embarrassing defeats the Niners have faced this year. Just when we thought no one could top the kings of NFC, the Ravens came along and made them face a staggering defeat. They are just one stop away from clinching the AFC title.
Jackson took the podium in the post-game presser and talked about his take on the game. For a long time, the Ravens have been tagged the underdogs and it seems like Lamar Jackson has grown to be fond of the title given to them. However, after the 33-19 blowout, nobody can take the spotlight away from the Ravens as they officially became the current best team in the ongoing season.

The Ravens’ signal caller was asked about his take on the game against the 49ers and how the Ravens have become the favorites. His answer plausibly depicted that Jackson has not been as affected by the outcome of this game as one would expect. On the contrary, he is embracing being the underdogs of the league. He said that he is indifferent to being a ‘favorite’ team and also gave credit to the Niners for their tough defense, offense and efforts overall.

“I pretty much like it that when you know, just being the underdogs. I don’t want people looking at us like, oh we need them to do this and that,” said Jackson. He further added, “I feel like we have more success being that way.” Amidst the team’s performance, attention also swiftly moves to the QB’s game. If Lamar Jackson wasn’t in the MVP conversation before, this game would sure put his name in the talks.
Throughout the game, the Ravens forced Brock Purdy to be on the back foot, leading him to throw 4 picks. Lamar Jackson didn’t miss a single chance to squeeze a TD whenever he could, allowing his team to be in a leading position. Before this game, the Niners were everyone’s top pick in the NFL, but Jackson changed that tonight with his 2 TD performance.

Is Lamar Jackson the difference-maker?
For many, the answer to this question would be positive, acknowledging all that the QB has done for his side. Unlike Purdy, Jackson made sure that he wasn’t picked off, and that made a huge difference for the Ravens. He came out with 65.7% completed passes over 252 yards. All this after the QB ran into the ref and was penalized in the 1 quarter! However, he brought his A-game in the Levi’s Stadium and made sure he made Purdy pay for every mistake he made. When Purdy was intercepted by Patrick Queen, Jackson assisted Zay Flowers for a TD in the very next play.
