The New York Jets arguably had the best game of this season, thanks to Zach Wilson and Company. The 30-6 game was a spectacle to watch. While the Jets came out with a much-needed win, the Texans faced a huge disappointment when CJ Stroud had to leave the game. While the Jets should rejoice in this rare win, Jets’ DT, Quinnen Williams, is far from happy.

After the win, Williams went on X and it implies that he came out feeling guilty about tackling Stroud that hard. Though the hit came in the last quarter, Stroud was ruled out for the rest of the game.

Quinnen Williams has dirt on his conscience

In the wake of the game, Williams felt bad about his tackle and was guilty about the head concussion he gave CJ Stroud. Safe to say that the Jets’ DT holds the rookie QB in high regard and didn’t want to hurt him. It was just situational. Williams described that he played hard, but he also played fair, and getting someone injured is not on his bucket list.

Williams stated, “I pray CJ is ok, everyone know I’m not a dirty player or trying to hurt a great, Elite QB like him or any player in the league. I play hard and I play fair. Again, I pray CJ is ok and wish him nothing but the best.”

It’s nice to see players come out with their side of the story and it’s hard to ignore a heartfelt statement. Even though Williams is regretful of Stroud’s injury, there isn’t much that can be done.

There’s also the fact that Stroud was not having a good game, anyway. So, the Texans didn’t have a lot of winning chances, even if Stroud wasn’t ruled out.

Would the circumstance be any different if Stroud didn’t get injured?

It was the last quarter when the Jets’ DT rush tackled CJ Stroud and his head hit the ground. Stroud was struggling and slow to get up, but he walked to the sidelines on his own. He was attended by the trainers and went to the medical tent. By the looks of it, Stroud seemed to be in excruciating pain. The QB was evaluated for head injury and was put on concussion protocol, short of any return, as he headed to the locker room.

The thing is, Stroud was already having a rough day before he got hit. He came out with a 43.5% pass completion rate and completed just 10 out of 23 passes he threw for 91 yards. He was also sacked 4 times, making it the worst game for him this season. So far, there are no further updates on the QB’s injury. But it seems fate was not on the Texans’ side today.
