The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson cryptically avoided commenting on his contract. After much anticipation around his contract extension, the Vikings and the WR couldn’t reach a middle ground. Still under his rookie contract, Jefferson eagerly wants to sign an extension deal with the franchise, but he emphasizes that it’s up to the management.

Moreover, Jefferson successfully lodged his name among the league’s best wide receivers. After being selected by the Vikings in the 2020 NFL draft, Jefferson became one of the key players for the franchise.

The YouTube channel “Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams” shared a video featuring Justin Jefferson sharing his thoughts on his contract extension. When asked about the issue by the host, Jefferson avoided the question by sidestepping and giving an indirect response, “I have no idea.” He also emphasized that it’s a question for the general manager and not for him.

Jefferson said, “I have no idea. That’s a talk for the GM, and that’s not talk for me.” Since 2020, Jefferson has been on his rookie contract, earning a $2.4-million salary this season. However, the Vikings and Jefferson were anticipated to lock a deal before the commencement of the 2023 regular season, but that didn’t happen.

The franchise and the WR will likely lock the deal after the 2023 NFL season. Moreover, Jefferson’s contract extension could make him the highest-paid WR in the league. Nick Bosa signed a $170 million deal at 25, making him the highest-paid at his position. The Vikings might match this offer, and given Jefferson’s service to the team, they could put their WR on a pedestal in terms of earnings. And Jefferson being a veteran WR, the Vikings would be eager to lock him for the coming years.
