Mark Andrews is no stranger to facing adversity, both on and off the field. The Ravens’ tight end had a tough start to his day when he was involved in a car accident, even though he was just heading into the facility for meetings. Talk about a game-changing moment! The good news? Andrews walked away with no injuries, and the Ravens confirmed he was in the clear. Ever had one of those moments where everything seems to go sideways but you come out unscathed?
On September 19th, Andrews shared the harrowing details of the accident on the Ravens’ ‘Lounge’ Podcast with Ryan Mink and Garrett Downing. He described it as a “scary moment,” with the other driver heading straight for him, leaving Andrews feeling like he was caught in a bad play with no control. “The other driver just completely came off, coming from the other way straight at me. I had no control of what’s going on.” Sounds like a nightmare scenario for anyone—imagine a collision with no time to react!
The crash took place on Lyons Mill Road in Owings Mills, leaving both vehicles heavily damaged. Despite the wreckage, Mark Andrews managed to join his team for morning meetings later that day. His message? “I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and well wishes. This is a great reminder about the importance of wearing seatbelts and remaining alert while driving a car.”

Andrews, a three-time Pro Bowler, was drafted by the Ravens in 2018 and since then Baltimore has thrown challenges at him. It was only last season that he was nursing an ankle injury and now this accident. Guess it’d take more than that to stop Andrews. His mantra of overcoming such setbacks? “Those things really mold you into what you are. But in football and life, I’ve always tried to do things the right way. My perspective on life is just being grateful.” It’s all about grit and grace, right?
Mark Andrews could be key for the Ravens in 2024!
For one, he’s already gearing up to pierce through the opposition’s defenses in 2024. After bouncing back from that nasty car accident, Mark Andrews wasted no time getting back into the action. But is he doing well? In Week 2’s loss to Las Vegas, Andrews outshined his teammate Isaiah Likely.
He hauled in four of five targets for 51 yards, while Likely managed only two catches for 26 yards on three targets. And we will give you a bonus if you’re into fantasy football: Andrews is definitely the guy to watch. But you would not be able to guess that he was back in full swing just 16 days after the accident. Who does that? This guy’s like the NFL’s version of Iron Man. He made some serious noise against the Raiders after getting snaps against the Chiefs.
