Nick Sirianni’s departure from the Kansas City Chiefs was a graceful, yet painful one. It was where he had started his NFL career and had spent four years with them in various offensive coaching roles. Then the Chiefs brought over Andy Reid from the Philadelphia Eagles to take up the role of Head Coach. Andy Reid came and showed Sirianni the door, who was then serving as the WR coach.

Now, a Super Bowl clash later. The two are going to take on each other again. The last time they met Reid’s Chiefs defeated the Eagles 35-38. On Monday Night Football, will it be an emotional moment for Sirianni?

Nick Sirianni has fond memories with the Chiefs

While interacting with the media, days ahead of the Mini Bowl, a reporter asked Nick Sirianni if he remembers his time with the Chiefs fondly. “It’s where I started my NFL career. No matter where you go, you’ll have memories. You can’t let yourself get wrapped up in that. I got a job to do.”

Sirianni shouldn’t be too sad about his dismissal. After he left the Chiefs, he found his way to the Philadelphia Eagles as their HC. In just his second year with them, they went to the Super Bowl. And now in his third year, the Eagles are currently the team with the best record in the league. Will he manage to make Reid bite the dust on Monday?

What’s at stake for both teams on Monday?

On Monday, the Eagles will be walking into Arrowhead Stadium with an 8-1 record, while the Chiefs are at 7-2. On the face of it, it seems that the Eagles have done a better job this season so far. But going by historical data, in the 10 games that the two teams have played, the Chiefs have won 6, while the Eagles have won 4. And ever since Andy Reid took over the reins of the Chiefs, the Eagles have never defeated them.

While last time the Chiefs’ offense carried the day for Kansas City, this time around their offense doesn’t look that strong. On most metrics such as yards per play and points per game, they have scored lower than last year. That being said, their defense has been bringing their A-game and might just clinch a victory for the Chiefs on gameday. Kick-off is at 8:15 p.m. on November 20 at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City.
