Just hours back, the New York Jets faced one of the most crushing defeats of the season against the Chargers. While the game reflected the flaws and shortcomings of the team in green, it became even more clear when Robert Saleh was found admitting to the same. The Jets who were flying high on the back of three won on the trot, even running over the Eagles just two weeks ago, were met with a big loss of 27-6.

Probably, the drawback faced by the Jets has made them miss their keyman A-Rod. Even though Zach Wilson tried his best, he couldn’t capitalize his game; so much so that not even 1 TD was made by the football star. This underwhelming performance of the Jets made Robert Saleh share his takeaways in the post-match conference.

The Jets’ Head coach was seen pointing out a few things that will need improvement right away. In the shared video on the Jets’ official YouTube and X handle you can hear him clearly acknowledging the team’s flaws. He admitted at the start that the battle went out of hand in the first quarter when the opponent scored 14 points.

This concern was raised by one of the reporters as well who questioned Saleh about this “trailing” issue. To this, the HC couldn’t help but sigh and confess, “We weren’t trailing last week but I get your point.” This further led him to address the persisting issues in both the offense and the defense.

He said, “The offense was moving the ball.” But further added, “The Defense, its job is to get the ball back ‘every single time’ by all means necessary and the offense’s job is to go down score,” which seemed to be lacking in the team in the game against the Chargers.

Additionally, for the HC, the reason for the defeat faced was the “self-inflicted wounds” due to the fumbles on the field. Robert Saleh clearly mentioned that every time the momentum felt going, the Jets shot themselves in the foot. But, he understands that the team is bound to get frustrated.

Still, he added that the team has to understand “How to have each other’s back.” So, what are the steps Jets are planning to take from here onwards, especially after such a disheartening defeat?

Plans ahead for the Jets!

The Jets offense was doing the job of moving the ball pretty much and their defense looked out of touch throughout. And the fact that A-Rod still has seven weeks to join the team as per current estimates, adds to the series of setbacks in the squad. However, despite the criticism, Wilson has proved to be a crucial element of the team; one that Saleh and and others will be counting on for the coming weeks.

This might be there plan of bouncing back as they will face the Raiders and the Bills in the upcoming weeks. Both teams are making their mark felt in the league right now! It will be interesting to see how the Jets will guard against the Raiders on Sunday at the Allegiant Stadium. Additionally, there efforts will also be put into strengthening their defense, as suggested by Saleh during the press meet.
