Russell Wilson is undergoing one of the toughest phases of his NFL career. The Denver Broncos approached him in Bye Week to change his contract, which ultimately led to his benching for the rest of the regular season games. But Wilson is still appearing strong as he talks about how he is feeling at the moment.
Coach Sean Payton once said that he wanted to build his team when he signed with the Orange Crush. Probably, Wilson’s benching and potential future release are ways of doing it. Nevertheless, as things have now almost been decided, the 35-year-old ‘disappointed’ QB talks about the double blow he has been facing since Bye Week.

Wilson recently spoke in a press conference aired by 9NEWS, expressing his disappointment with the ongoing situation. He mentioned the team’s season-long effort to reach the playoffs, emphasizing his love for playing with teammates and his commitment to doing whatever it takes. Wilson acknowledged that it’s been a challenging process, referencing coach Sean Payton’s comments on his benching decision.
Embodying his true leadership mentality and as an understanding quarterback, he revealed that he comes to practice every day despite being benched and is also helping Jarrett Stidham. He said, “I help him lead and do whatever it takes to keep the guys going and try to lead the right way, that’s all.”

Wilson continued, “I know I don’t know anything else. I think winning winning is a habit, mentality wise, focus wise, and the approach no matter if you’re the one if you’re the two, no matter what, should never change, and I love this game, I love this team, and I love the the teammates that I got too.” Although Wilson is trying hard to lead Stidham, how well he is prepared for the upcoming games is the question now.

Russell Wilson being sidelined by the Broncos has opened up an opportunity for Jarrett Stidham. Stidham, previously a backup for the Patriots and Raiders, will start for the Broncos against the Chargers in the last two games of the regular season. Although he lost both of his previous starts with the Raiders last season, Stidham expresses confidence in himself.
Facing the Chargers’ defense, ranked 26th in points allowed and 30th in passing yards, he acknowledged, “I’ve always had a lot of confidence in myself,” but “you don’t ever really know. You think you know what you can do, but [you can’t know] until you can go out there and actually do it.”
