It’s official! Justin Jefferson is now the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. After a painfully long wait for an extension this offseason, the Minnesota Vikings signed their star player to a record-breaking deal worth $140 million with $110 million in guarantees.

The 24-year-old’s future in his draft team has been a hot topic for quite some time, as the 2020 draft pick was due to enter his fifth and final year of rookie contract. Amid the fans’ anxiety and the analysts’ predictions, the news comes as a sigh of relief to Minnesota. But nobody could be happier than Jefferson, who expressed how much the milestone meant to him in a heartfelt message.

The receiver announced his new deal with a video message on his social media. Jefferson captioned the video, “Something that once was a dream is now my reality. There are so many people that I can sit here and thank but you all know who you are that helped me along the way. But we ain’t stopping here…. There’s more to be done… SKOL!!!!!!!

The Vikings star began by saying how the day he had been dreaming of ever since he was a “little kid” had arrived. He continues by sharing the struggles he had to face in the past, like “not being highly recruited” and not being the starting receiver. Jefferson thanked God and went on to express his gratitude to everyone who he felt helped him on the journey to become one of the best players in the league.

Jefferson finally thanked the Vikings fans, “And last but not the least, thank you to the fans. Y’all set the tone, y’all set the mood, y’all set the energy. And I’m definitely excited to set the energy for five more years.” The WR’s message received a lot of love from not only the fans but also his teammates and rivals from the NFL.

KJ Osborn, who got drafted the same year as Jefferson by the Vikings, commented on his former teammate’s post, “God the greatest!” Another player from the same draft class, Minnesota’s safety Josh Metellus, also showed his support with a purple heart emoji. Jefferson’s competitors, fellow wide receivers from the league, showed true sportsmanship spirit and didn’t back down from celebrating and congratulating him on his success.

Eagles’ WR A.J. Brown, who also signed a monumental deal this offseason, gave his best wishes through the comment section, writing, “Congrats fam! BIG BLESSINGS!!!!🔥” Titans’ receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, wrote “Glory!!!” while Eagles’ linebacker, Devin White, wrote, “1 of ah kind ! Congrats brudda 🔥” Tyreek Hill, who held the spot for the highest-paid, previously expressed his support through his X account, calling the achievement “well deserved.”
