Can the Patriots' season survive the blow of losing a key player like David Andrews?

Pats, bad news! Everyone was waiting for an update on David Andrews‘ shoulder injury. We got one. And it’s saddening. Head Coach Jerod Mayo announced that the center will be put on the Injured Reserve (IR) List. He’s out for the season now. The injured shoulder requires surgery. And the QB Jacoby Brissett is heartbroken.

Reported by Alex Barth on X, previously Twitter, Brissett said, “It’s tough, man. That one hurt me. One of the key reasons why I wanted to come back here, because of my past relationship with him.” The QB joined the Patriots in 2016, one year after Andrews. Both were relatively new and developed a strong friendship. However, in this season, their association was short-lived.

Already struggling with injuries, the Pats’ O-line took a major hit in the week 4 game against the 49ers. In the 3rd quarter, he injured his shoulder. Immediately, he was taken to the medical tent, followed by the locker room. Nick Leverett replaced him in the game. But everyone was worried.

The doubts turned into reality with the following medical checkups. Jacoby Brissett’s friend took opinions from different doctors. Most of them suggested surgery to treat the injured shoulder. And Andrews agreed to the same. He is eyeing a comeback in 2025.

The Pats captain discussed the situation with the quarterback before deciding to go with surgery.
