“He’s got probably one of the best corner minds that we’ve had for a young guy around here,” said the then-Seahawks DC Kris Richard about the CB Shaquill Griffin in 2017. The franchise drafted him in the 3rd round (90th overall) that year. But things changed after his rookie deal was over. They decided to trade him. Well, His career has come full circle.
Let’s rewind Griffin’s career a bit. After leaving Seattle, the Jaguars signed the CB, where he played till 2023. Last year, he was with the Vikings. In 17 games (3 starters), the 29-year-old had 2 interceptions, 6 passes defended, and 41 tackles (33 solo). This year, Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald might open the path of reunion.

The Athletic’s Mike Dugar caught up with the Seahawks head coach at the NFL Annual Meeting, where they discussed various strategies the team might pursue in the upcoming draft. The head coach said, “If you get caught chasing positions—thinking, ‘Hey, we’ve only got a couple players here,’ or on the same token, ‘We’re good at this position, let’s not take this guy’—I’ve been burned a few times in my career, and I’ve learned my lesson… we don’t want to operate like that.” He is right there.
