Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy is fast and unpredictable on the field. His life seems to be taking a similar turn for the receiver who had a standout rookie season in the pros. On March 7, he was arrested in Georgetown, Texas. A family/household member filed a criminal charge against the NFL star at the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. However, an additional detail has emerged that will make everyone in the Chiefs Kingdom happy.
FOX reporter Will Kunkel revealed a massive update late on March 8 by tweeting, “UPDATE: Charges have been dropped.” The Williamson County District Attorney’s office had already declined to take up the case. They wanted the sheriff to complete the investigation. So, things are expected to go back to normal soon.

The Chiefs camp held their breath as more details emerged about the incident. The WR’s attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, revealed their side of the story early on March 8. They claimed that the complainant was in dispute with Xavier Worthy for the last 2 weeks, after he discovered her infidelity and told her to leave. But things turned south as she tried to extort money from him.
They also claimed the complainant destroyed one room of his house, ripped some parts of his hair, and even scratched his face. His team also had the CCTV evidence for their claims. Even the receiver had the option of pressing charges. But he chose not to. For now, it’s the update they wanted. He is clear!
But the development did seem to force the HC Andy Reid to take a massive decision. He didn’t back down from spending a few millions to secure their future.
HC Andy Reid signs Xavier Worthy’s teammate
Andy Reid signed WR Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, who missed most of 2024 with injury issues, to a 1-year $11 million deal, making sure they have depth in coverage in case they need it. A deal was likely to come around anyway, but Worthy’s controversial news may have sped it up in favor of the former Ravens and Cardinals wideout.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Chiefs make a smart move signing Hollywood Brown, or is it a risky gamble?

Even last year, they signed him on a similar 1-year $11 million deal. But things changed in the preseason when he injured his shoulder. Yet, Xavier Worthy’s teammate beat all the naysayers by coming back in the week 16 game against the Texans. He also came onto the ground when they needed him the most. Super Bowl LIX!
It was a disaster for the Chiefs that they would want to forget. In the 22-40 loss, he had 2 receptions for 15 yards as the Eagles crushed their hopes. All dreams of the first-ever 3-peat came crashing down. No one can forget those sad visuals of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on the sidelines, with tears virtually rolling down their cheeks.
