Will Dak Prescott's massive contract bring the Cowboys a Super Bowl, or is it just wasted money?

The big news is finally here! America’s team wasn’t giving Dak Prescott the deal he wanted. The talks were going on and on and on. But at last, the good sense has prevailed. And it has created history. Jerry Jones kept saying throughout the offseason that he wouldn’t let the QB move to free agency in 2025. And he didn’t. Let’s break down the deal for you.

Dallas Cowboys signed a 4-year $240 million contract extension with their quarterback. The deal will make him super rich. Prescott will get $231 million guaranteed with a signing bonus of $80 million, the largest ever. Each year, he will pocket $60 million as the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. While the deal is huge, he surely deserves it.

In his 9 seasons with the Cowboys, the signal-caller has 29,459 passing yards with 67% passing accuracy. His leadership is also critical to the success of the team. In 114 games, Prescott holds a win-loss record of 73-41. And if we look at his stats closely, his performances are improving with age. He led the league last year in touchdowns (36) and completed passes (410). In the league since 2015, he had the same passes and more touchdowns (37) in 2021. A unique trait! Hence, they struck a fortune.

The deal hasn’t come out of the blue. Jones didn’t have any other option. Cowboys do not have any other reliable quarterback else than Dak Prescott in the locker room. Trey Lance and Cooper Rush do not inspire much chance of success. If they had signed a rookie, they would have to start their mentoring process all over again. America’s Team doesn’t have the time. Their last Super Bowl win came in 1995. For now, the responsibility lies on the QB.
