Jewelers have free rein over the design of the ring and the number of gems (all authentic) to be embedded. Jewelry companies bid for the chance to make a customized ring, each showcasing their carefully made designs to the winning team. Gold, ruby, platinum, diamonds! Everything is on the table for the design with an aim of commemorating the team’s victory.

The rings often have the winner’s logo in colored jewels and represent the team’s stats with the number of diamonds. The Green Bay Packers‘ ring from the 45th Superbowl had the team’s logo engraved with 13 diamonds, representing the number of championship titles they had won.

Each ring can cost anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000, of which $5,000 is contributed by the NFL for each ring. Considering how lavish the rings have become through the years, the additional cost has to be paid by the team and is deducted from their winning paycheck.
