Derrick Brown's family is full of achievers—do you think this fuels his performance on the field?

Talk about the light at the end of the tunnel! That was exactly what the Defensive tackle Derrick Brown proved to be for the Carolina Panthers last season. Why? You might ask. Despite the team’s dismal 2-15 record, his performances stood out. Some might even argue that he showed leadership qualities on the gridiron. And it would not be a stretch because that’s what life expected Derrick to be, a leader. It started right from the early days when his younger siblings looked up to him as the brother who was making waves in college football. Both Kameron and Mikaelia still see Derrick as their perfect eldest brother.

Not only that, even during his college days at Auburn, Derrick Brown wasn’t just a powerhouse on the field; he was also a standout leader off of it. Picture this: while dominating opponents as a defensive tackle, he also took charge as the president of Auburn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He championed community service and events with the same passion he brought to sacking quarterbacks. Surprised? Don’t be. His actions were reflective of how he was brought up!

Growing up, Derrick was no stranger to discipline. Born to James and Martha Brown, it was his father who was a strict figure. You can’t blame him, though. Sure, Derrick, Kameron, and Mikaelia had their frustrations with him, but James was habitual to the way of life owing to his army background. The patriarch of the Brown family served four years in the Army before moving to the National Guard for another four. With that kind of resume, it’s no wonder Derrick and his siblings learned a thing or two about resilience and grit.

If we are talking about his siblings, Derrick Brown isn’t the only one in the family making plays on the gridiron. His brother, Kameron, is also out there, proving that the football genes run deep. It’s like a family tradition, but one that’s started by brothers—wherever you see a Brown, expect some serious game. And let’s not forget Mikaelia, Derrick’s sister. She’s off the field but still scoring big with an MBA from Alabama State University. There’s not much information about her. But one quick scoop through Derrick’s social media and you can find that Mikaelia has an Instagram profile of her own as well. It’s just that she hasn’t been posting much.

Now, we expect you to have your doubts about the brothers having a stronger bond due to a shared passion for football. That’s completely justified. But if not her passion, Mikailia does have similarities with her brothers. In fact, all three share similarities with each other. Yes! We are talking about their resembling features. And one family photo that Derrick posted back in 2019 highlights it more. It’s like each sibling has just grown into an older version and it’s just beautiful to see.

The post in itself emits a strong sense of love and togetherness. All stemming from Derrick Brown taking pride in his younger brother joining him in Auburn.

Have an interesting take?

Who is Derrick Brown’s LB brother Kameron Brown?

Brothers seem to have a special bond regardless of what they do. But in the Browns’ case, it’s even more so. Why? Picture this: both brothers grew up playing football, having that same passion for pigskin, and tackling their men. Yes! Just like Derrick Brown, Kameron took up the defensive side of the game. Wait till you read the next bit. Back in 2019, Kameron was recruited as a linebacker for the Auburn Tigers, around the same time when Derrick was eyeing the NFL draft. Forget eyeing, he was touted to be the first-round pick.

But guess what? Derrick did not go pro that year! He admitted that playing with Kameron in high school was a cherished memory that forced him to take a U-turn. “I mean, it was a big factor.” The big brother returned to the Tigers so that he could play with his up-and-coming younger bro for a year.

Fast forward to now, and while Derrick has made his mark with the Carolina Panthers, Kameron has transferred to the Chattanooga Mocs in 2023. With two years of eligibility remaining, he quickly became a force. He appeared in all 13 games during his junior year, making 30 tackles, including a notable performance in a Week 3 win over The Citadel with seven tackles. Kameron’s impact didn’t stop there. He made a pivotal fumble recovery in a victory over Mercer and had a half-sack during the FCS Playoffs.

Before Chattanooga and Auburn, Kameron was an aggressive beast at Lanier High School in Atlanta. With that mentality, he tallied a humongous total of 187 tackles. It’s a step in the right direction, you could say. But the cycle of life never stops, so what’s next? For us fans, it’s exciting to think about how these two will continue to shine in their respective leagues. Could we see them shoulder-to-shoulder on the gridiron? As of now, it’s anyone’s guess if these two would suit up again. But rest assured, the Browns are just getting started, and you won’t want to miss their story.
