Becoming a parent must be a magical feeling. Imagine having those little hands wrapping around your finger, those small, magical eyes looking at you in amazement. Jerome Ford, the Cleveland Browns RB, was only 23 years old when he experienced the magical feeling of becoming a dad. Of course, there was a little nervousness, since he was in his final year of college. I mean, becoming a father when you are just a college student is a huge responsibility. But Jerome was ready to take on all those responsibilities once he held his little one in his arms.

Ford, who was playing for the Cincinnati Bearcats at that time, chose to be in the hospital rather than on the gridiron for the college’s senior bowl, the day his daughter was born.

Jerome Ford racked up 483 yards and scored eight touchdowns in his first year with the Bearcats in 2020. At that time, he was mainly serving as the backup running back to starting RB Gerrid Doaks. Ford quickly made a name for himself and soon became the starting RB for the Bearcats in 2021. The Cincinnati alum was all set to finish his final year of college with a Senior Bowl, but he had something more important to take care of. You might be wondering, what could be more important for a player than his final game? Well, his little bundle of joy was on the way. And he could not have missed that.

In 2022, the Browns RB was overwhelmed as he held his baby girl in his big arms for the very first time. Sharing a picture on his X, Ford wrote, “I want to thank @JimNagy_SB and all of the Senior Bowl staff for giving me the opportunity to compete against the best football players in the nation. I wasn’t able to play in the game because my daughter was being born. #GirlDad.” Doesn’t it warm your heart?

That same year, Ford got drafted into the NFL. The Cleveland Browns picked the Cincinnati alum in the fifth round and 156th overall. His little daughter for sure brought him some luck along with her. Ford wants his daughter to have a simple, normal childhood like every other kid, so keeps her out of the spotlight. He’s making sure she’s just having fun with her little friends and is not always in front of the cameras.

Who is the Browns’ RB’s son?

Back in August, Jerome Ford was sweating hard at the Browns’ training camp before the NFL season kicked off. But you know, the RB was hardly getting any sleep, not because of the pressure for the upcoming season, but because he had a little one to look after. Ford’s daughter became a big sister this year when the Browns RB welcomed his son, Jerome III. He was on cloud nine, but he wasn’t getting any sleep. “It’s tiring. He gets a lot of sleep. I don’t, but it’s fun,” he shared.

But then, the league was important too. So Ford found a solution for that: ‘sleeping in a different room.’ Bringing up a child is no easy task at all. But Jerome loves being a father. The Browns RB wants to be the best dad he can be for his kids, just like every other father. It’s clear that off the field, Ford is all about his family and his kids. Not only is he giving his all to be the best dad, but he’s also protecting his family’s private life. Up until now, the Ford family has preferred to stay out of the spotlight, away from the camera flashes. And we get it. Being in the limelight all the time can take a toll on your mental health.
