Rejections hurt, right? Imagine working hard for something, giving it your all, and still not getting it. But that’s life sometimes. While some people simply give up after falling, others dust themselves off and keep going. Dan Skipper, the Detroit Lions offensive tackle, is one of those people who refused to quit on his dreams. The Arvada-born went undrafted in 2017 and bounced around between multiple teams’ camps and practice squads. It’s kind of like when you’re interning at different companies, wondering when you’ll finally land a permanent job with one.
Dan Skipper has been with the Lions for two years now, and as you all know, the Lions have been roaring brilliantly this season. While Skipper works hard to help his team win, among his other supporters, he’s got his two babies cheering him on.

Everyone needs someone to have their back when things are not falling to the right place. For Dan Skipper, that person was his wife, Mackenzie Skipper. She stood by his side like a rock throughout his tough football journey. During COVID, when Skipper was grinding it out on the Lions’ practice squad, Mackenzie was undergoing her IVF journey. She has documented her entire on her Instagram handle. The couple welcomed their bundles of joy, two boys, on August 31, 2021.
They named their boys Sam and Jones. She posted a picture from the delivery room and wrote, “Best day of our lives. Our precious little dudes made their appearance yesterday 8/31/21 at 35 weeks. Sam and Jones, we love y’all so much, and @bigskippy70 and I are totally obsessed with y’all. Sam- 5lbs 7oz, 17.75 inches long, Jones – 5lbs 11oz 18.5 inches long.” Dan also shared his excitement about becoming a dad. Posting a photo of his newborns, he wrote, “Added a couple little dudes to the fam.”

The couple often shares sweet family pictures, giving a little peek inside their life off the field. Little Sam and Jones are full-fledged Lions fans, regularly spotted in the stands cheering for their dad, rocking their tiny Lions jerseys. Soon, they’re going to be big brothers.
Does Dan Skipper have a daughter?
Mackenzie Skipper’s pregnancy journey hasn’t been easy. She’s gone through pregnancy loss and hasn’t been shy about sharing it on her socials. Before welcoming Sam and Jones through IVF, she had an embryo loss. But Dan has always had her back, if not in person then on FaceTime from the Lions camp. He’s made sure to be there for her, just like she’s been there for him through his whole football journey. Now that’s what you call ‘couple goals!’ It’s not always about holding hands and looking all mushy on camera; it’s about being there through the worst and the best.
After dealing with pregnancy struggles, Dan and his sweetheart are all set to welcome their third baby. Sam and Jones are soon going to have a little sister. The couple shared the good news back in May this year with a joint post on Instagram, “Watch out world S&J are getting a little sis in December! Feeling so excited for our new little lady. Growing our family has never been easy and after a lot of heart break this last year we can’t wait to meet this little girl! Forever praying for those dealing with infertility and pregnancy loss. So thankful for all the friends and family loving on us this last year. P.S. Yes I promise there is only one baby in there this time. 🤪”, they captioned. Looks like Dan is all set to get another little cheerleader in his life!
