And looks like they aren’t wasting much time getting back to work. The reason? Well, the Giants are hiring former Jaguars and Bills WR coach Chad Hall as their assistant quarterbacks coach, per source. And guess what? Hall is related to the Rams‘ QB, Matthew Stafford.

Yeah, you read that absolutely right. The 38-year-old WR coach for the Jaguars is actually a brother-in-law of Stafford. Hall’s sister, Kelly, met Stafford back in her college days when she was a cheerleader for the Georgia Bulldogs. The couple tied the knot back in April 2015 and now have four daughters together.

Stafford and Hall both are of almost the same age. They belong to the same state, they both chose the same sport, and the cherry on the top? They both are now part of the NFL. When Chad retired from pro football, he had no clue what to do with the rest of his life. It was Matthew Stafford who encouraged him to try coaching, and there you go, coaching fit well and Chad has been serving the NFL as a coach for the last eight years.

But let’s be real: being surrounded by a QB husband and coach brother left Kelly Stafford in a dilemma. Now, whenever Hall and Stafford clash against each other, one question is always raised. Whether Kelly will support her husband or her brother?

This isn’t their first rodeo, though. Hall actually worked as an offensive assistant for the Bills before, and back in 2022, he and the QB had a little showdown. And get this—they have a tradition of talking the night before every game, and that one was no exception. So yeah, they had their chat, then went out and faced off. Talk about full-circle moments.

Speaking of the tradition, during their pre-game conversation, Chad Hall likes to send Stafford a song of the city they’re about to play the next day. And it is safe to say when the Rams and Giants will meet in the next season, they’re gonna continue this tradition.

Matthew Stafford is Chad Hall’s brother that he never had

Hall found out about Kelly and Stafford’s relationship soon after the couple started dating. While Stafford was the star QB of the Bulldogs. Kelly was the cheerleader. And Chad? Well, he pretty much knew about Stafford as he remained in contact with some of his teammates. As their relationship Deepend, Chad met Stafford for the first time at Kelly’s apartment. And believe me, the guy was shocked to see Stafford’s size.

“He looked like a fullback,” Chad says. And soon after their first meeting, each of them started calling the other, “brother I never had.” Fast forward to their NFL career. Lions signed Stafford as the first overall pick back in 2009 NFL draft. And Chad? Well, he had his ups and downs as he went undrafted a year back. However, the Eagles later drafted him in 2010 and that’s how Hall and Stafford started training together.

Matthew, Chad and Kelly used to live with the Halls. And you can just say that each had the other accountable. The reason? Well, the QB found his WR and vice versa. Stafford threw passes and Hall caught them. Later, after wrapping up his NFL career, Chad joined the Bills as their offensive assistant.

However, the family still remained closed. During Stafford’s time with the Lions, Chad would vacation with his sister- and brother-in-law, traveling to Costa Rica and Mexico. And the vacation usually planned after a hectic NFL season. Now, Chall Hall lives with his wife, Rose, and their two children. As for his relation with Matthew Stafford, he calls the QB, “one of my best friends, loyal,” and someone he can count on.
