The NFL just dropped a piece of news (literally) that is music to the ears of many. Grammy-nominated Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) will headline the halftime show at the final international game of the 2024 season in Munich, Germany. Yep, the Giants will lock horns against the Panthers, and MGK will bring the heat. A collab you didn’t quite see coming, right? But there’s actually a link between MGK and the NFL, and it’s not as random as it sounds.
*Cue in the drum rolls* Enter Travis Kelce, the Chiefs’ megastar. And let’s be real. Was anyone surprised? Trav’s been making headlines both on and off the field since his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift. But his connection with MGK? Yes, folks, that goes way deeper than just bumping into each other at celebrity events.
Did Machine Gun Kelly & Travis Kelce go to High School together?

How back is way back in MGK and Travis Kelce’s case? We’re talking same neighborhood. Yes, sir, Cleveland roots stay strong. Kelce himself said, “We actually grew up right down the street from each other.” That’s right—Kelce and MGK, or Colson Baker, if you want to get formal, have been linked long before either of them became household names. And yeah, Kelce was a fan even before the Chiefs’ days.
Now, to answer the question: if they went to high school together or not? The simple way to put it is: Nope, they did not. MGK went to Shaker Heights High School, while Trav completed his schooling at Cleveland Heights High School. Hmm, if you know you know (hint: rival high schools).
But that didn’t stop them from staying connected. In fact, over the years, they have shown their support for each other at various events, whether it is a Chiefs Super Bowl win or MGK dropping a new album.

Baker even posted, “Can’t believe we came from rival high schools and now you got a f–kin ring.” Feels like fate, doesn’t it? Sure, but do not forget to add a tinge of hard work mixed with passion and a bit of determination. Ah! Now, it’s perfect.
What’s cooler? In April 2023, Travis invited MGK to perform at his Kelce Jam music festival, where they got on stage together, rocking out to the Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right.” Talk about hometown heroes sticking together!
But if the connection really is that deep, you’d imagine Baker to be from the Chiefsdom. And you’d be wrong—he’s not a Chiefs fan. But he belongs to the Dawg Pound. So much so that he even tried to lure Travis into playing for the Browns.
How much did MGK offer Travis?
Yes, you read that right! MGK was ready to roll out the red carpet for Travis Kelce, hoping to lure him back to Cleveland. I mean, can you imagine? Kelce, the All-Pro tight end, with the Browns? It sounds like a trade you’d only see in some wild fantasy league!

MGK pitched a tempting deal during an episode of the “New Heights” podcast, offering a cool $500,000 and, wait for it—free breakfast! Talk about starting the day right, right? You’d expect that from the rapper, who is a proud Clevelander. He put his cards on the table, saying, “I will give you $500,000 cash upon arrival just for shopping or whatever you want…” And he added that everyday breakfast and coffee deliveries would be on him, from his own restaurant. Sounds like a plan, right? Wrong!

See, the thing is, we understand that it was a friendly banter. But even if it wasn’t one, the Chiefs have got Travis Kelce on lock with a four-year, $57 million deal. So, why would he jump ship for breakfast and a cash bonus? Kelce grew up just a stone’s throw from Cleveland, in Westlake, Ohio, and he knows the area well. But even with all that cheddar on the table, he’s pretty happy in Kansas City. “I’m not gonna lie. The situation is pretty good in Kansas City,” he said.
I mean, the man is set to hang up his cleats in a couple of years. And the only thing that matters before the big R is completing the 3-peat. Guess Baker would still be treating Trav to free breakfast if his childhood friend manages to snag that unprecedented achievement!
