Whitehouse High School’s Class of 2014 was asked, “What are you looking forward to most about your class reunion?” Back then, Patrick Mahomes’ football career had taken a back seat. In fact, he was just a “yes” away from signing with the Detroit Tigers for a future in the MLB. Considering this, what was his classmate Spencer Shaw’s answer to the question? “Seeing Patrick Mahomes’ Super Bowl ring.” Six years later, the Chiefs quarterback made it happen. The only sad thing about this story is that Shaw won’t get to see even one of Mahomes’ three rings.

Ironically, Mahomes made this revelation just before receiving that third diamond- and ruby-adorned ring for leading the Chiefs to a third Super Bowl title in five years. On June 13, as the Super Bowl MVP headed to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City for the ceremony, PEOPLE Magazine interviewed him. Seeing as it’s been a decade since he graduated from Whitehouse, they couldn’t help but ask him about the reunion. However, he revealed he wouldn’t be attending.

“It’s in September. We actually talked about this with my friends last weekend. So, it’s 10 years for me,” Mahomes said. Referring to his wife, Brittany, who’s also 28 but was a year above, he added, “She’s at 11 now.” Since the NFL season will start in September, and Mahomes & Co. will kick off their title defense yet again, it makes sense why the 28-year-old wouldn’t be able to attend. However, he did say, “I’m gonna send my best wishes to all my classmates.” Maybe Spencer Shaw will get extra best wishes.

As Patrick Mahomes put on his third ring, Brittany was right by him, dazzling the Super Bowl Ring ceremony in a KC-themed outfit. On Sunday, just three days after the ceremony, the influencer shared yet another exciting yet tiring life update on her Instagram story – a glimpse of her room, with dresses thrown on her bed. Offering a sneak peek into her outfits for her upcoming vacation, the story also featured her pit bull, Steel, lying beside her. Known for her unique fashion sense, the 28-year-old flaunted her impressive footwear collection, presenting the conundrums of packing for a long trip. “Ask me about packing for a 4-week trip,” she wrote.

That’s not all, though. Long vacations mean having to think ahead, including ensuring every perishable food item is taken care of before setting off on the journey. In a subsequent story, Brittany Mahomes posted a video, saying, “We are currently getting ready to go on a very long family vacation this week. I didn’t want to buy groceries over the weekend ’cause we’ve already cleaned all of our fridges and everything.” Well, it looks like the Mahomes family sure is ready to step away from NFL and sponsorship commitments for a while and just enjoy each other’s company.

And as Brittany wrote, “Nobody wants to buy groceries before they travel!” As they prepare for this relaxing trip, it’s interesting to note that this won’t be the Mahomes couple’s first trip this off-season. However, their previous one wasn’t as elaborate. But besides that, they’ve had quite a busy off-season. Although they would’ve had to attend the quarterback’s 10-year reunion, that’s not on the cards anymore. But speaking of reunions, Patrick Mahomes reunited with his favorite tight end, and they’re getting ready to go for the elusive three-peat!

Patrick Mahomes has complete belief in the Chiefs to secure three-in-a-row

Before any of their NFL duties for this season started, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce headed to the American Airlines Center on May 26 to sit courtside as the Mavericks took on the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. Just a few days later, they returned to the Chiefs’ practice facility for organized team activities and were warming up together.

Arguably the best tight end-quarterback combination in the NFL right now, Kelce and Mahomes had their game faces on, seemingly gunning for that fourth title together already. The 28-year-old suggested this during the ring ceremony on Thursday. Mahomes said, “I’m going to think about how I can get another one for the pinkie finger. It’s going to take a lot of hard work [to win three straight titles]. It’s never been done before for a good reason. It takes a special group of guys, and I think we’ve got that group.”

Last year, at times, Mahomes struggled with the deep pass. 6 of his career-high 14 interceptions were a result of passes over 20 yards. Considering this, the Super Bowl LVIII MVP already has something to work on during this campaign, and he’s already started. The best part for him is that head coach Andy Reid is pushing Mahomes to improve, wanting him to limit his check-down passes this season.

Patrick Mahomes described this dynamic with Reid: “If I don’t, he throws little jabs at me like, ‘Oh, you want to throw the check-down here? I’m like, ‘I got you, Coach; we’re going to push it.’ It has been fun.” That said, do you think the Chiefs can achieve a three-peat this season? And will his family vacation be just what he needs to relax in preparation for what is shaping up to be an action-packed season?
