Jaylen Waddle signed a three-year contract extension last week with the Miami Dolphins. His $84.75 million extension includes $76 million guaranteed. This contract has locked him up through the 2028 season, paying him $104.7 million during that span. So, it’s quite obvious that Waddle is a happy man now.

That’s why when asked if he would like to celebrate the achievement with a dinner together with teammates, Waddle shyly accepted that he hasn’t really thought about it, but a party can surely be on the charts. However, that’s not all! On Tuesday’s OTA, Jaylen Waddle was asked how he felt when it came to working alongside Tyreek Hill and Odell Beckham Jr. (OBJ).

Waddle did not hesitate in making a subtle remark applauding the two-star receivers of the Phins. The 25-year-old remarked, “Oh man, I can’t wait. Like I said, when I was in high school, these guys were getting it done in the league, so I was a fan of OBJ, I was a fan of Tyreek Hill. And they’re like the head honchos of the past era. So playing with them, it’s going to be kind of exciting.”

Waddle, who was drafted to the Phins in the 2021 NFL Draft, hasn’t played with Hill or OBJ in the past together at the same time. And it’s likely that he might be backing them this time in the 2024 season. Hence, it remains to be seen how well the trio performs, especially Waddle and his influencer Hill, as they both are considered to be among the best WR duo in the NFL.

Why are Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle a powerful duo?

Tyreek Hill leads the league with 103 explosive plays over the past two seasons, while Jaylen Waddle ranks seventh with 68, despite facing injuries. Both are exceptional in yards after the catch since 2022, with Hill ranking second and Waddle seventh among receivers. Hill and Waddle excel in crucial moments, as shown in their comeback win against Baltimore in Week 2 of 2022. Hill leads in third and fourth-down receptions (69), yards (1,137), touchdowns (11), first downs (53), and yards per route run (3.31) over the past two years.

Waddle also performs well in these situations, ranking seventh in yards (864) and among the top 15 in first downs converted. Their high receiving grades on these downs underscore their impact. The Dolphins lead the NFL in explosive passing plays over the past two seasons, and that’s because of Hill and Waddle’s speed and playmaking ability. Under Coach Mike McDaniel, the Phins use a lot of pre-snap motion, making the duo’s production even more impressive given the fewer total receiving snaps to keep them fresh.

These stats and chemistry definitely make the pair a powerful one in the NFL dynamics. Now, with OBJ in the mix, the Dolphins are likely to only soar high in the sky as they gear up for another impactful play this upcoming season.
