The Super Bowl match-up between the Chiefs and the 49ers had the fans on the edge of their seats the entire time. From score ties to unexpected interceptions, fumbles, and heartbreaking injuries, Super Bowl LVIII had it all. A major moment of anguish came for the 49ers fans when Dre Greenlaw got injured on the sidelines.

Even more upsetting was the fact that it turned out to be an Achilles injury, probably one of the most feared football injuries there can be. During post-game interviews, George Kittle had some recovery advice for his suffering teammate. There is no doubt, that a major injury such as an Achilles tear, that too in the middle of the biggest game of the season, is the worst thing that could happen to a player or a team.

Therefore, When asked about Dre Greenlaw’s injury, George Kittle immediately responded with, “That’s depressing. I mean, to get injured in Super Bowl…” Kittle’s emotions were reflected in the morale of the entire 49ers fandom, who were rightly devastated when Dre Greenlaw was ruled out of the Super Bowl. Although, George Kittle hinted at something the 49ers’ linebacker could do to speed up his recovery.

The 49ers’ star TE also called Greenlaw the “heartbeat” of the team’s defense and revealed losing a “fantastic” player such as him was a huge deficit. But how did Dre Greenlaw get injured in the first place? The 49ers linebacker suffered his Achilles injury in the wildest and most unexpected way possible.
