Lincoln Financial Field must’ve felt the energy of the Eagles’ fans when the team defeated the Commanders in the NFC Championship. I mean, why wouldn’t they go crazy? The Jalen Hurts’ Eagles defeated their rivals with a dominating score of 55-23. And we know Philly fans love to go over the limit when it comes to celebrating wins. The vibe was too much for the stadium to contain, as the streets were swarmed with fans. Isn’t it beautiful? That someone else’s victory is your victory, bringing a sense of unity to the community. But life has a cruel way of reminding us that we should never overdo things—because you may never get the chance to feel it again.

We’re really not trying to tone down your celebration, especially with the big dance just around the corner. But something truly tragic happened on the day of the NFC win. Fans took over the streets of Philly, climbing poles and celebrating wildly. And then, a family lost their 18-year-old while he was climbing one. He fell on his back and died from a brain injury. The whole city is in shock, mourning the young fan’s death. Meanwhile, New Orleans has already started taking precautions. The city greased up all the poles on Bourbon Street near the Caesars Superdome, ensuring that past incidents don’t repeat. A Fox 29 reporter shared a video on his X account with the caption: “Breaking: The poles are greased on Bourbon Street.

Just imagine a parent hoping for their child to be safe and sound while he’s far away from home. And then, they receive news they wish they never want to hear. That’s what happened to Tyler Sabapathy. He came to Philly all the way from Toronto to pursue an exercise and sport science major at Temple’s College of Public Health. A talented gymnast with over 120 medals, Tyler’s future was bright. Now, instead of seeing him achieve success, the Temple community mourns his passing. “The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic,” Temple President John Fry and Vice President for Student Affairs Jodi Bailey shared in a heartfelt statement.

The city is still in shock, and leaders have not let this incident go unnoticed. Philadelphia’s Mayor Cherelle Parker also shared her emotions on the situation. “What happened to this young man is a terrible, terrible tragedy.” She also requested fans, saying, “Please, Philadelphia, I implore you as your mayor: Do not climb light poles or anything else.” In response to the tragedy, New Orleans is making sure that it doesn’t happen again. Federal agents will be patrolling above the city, heavily armed National Guardsmen will be on foot, and nearly 3,000 law enforcement personnel will be stationed throughout the area to ensure safety. The city is taking every measure to keep celebrations from turning into another heartbreaking loss. The city is there for its people, but the real question is, are the Eagles ready to defeat the Chiefs?

What is Jalen Hurts demanding from his teammates ahead of the big game?

We all know how calm and collected Jalen Hurts is. He prefers to let his game do the talking, and he has dominated throughout the season. Even after suffering an injury early on, he still ranks in the top 10 with a 65.7 QBR rating. But he knows better than anyone that football isn’t an individual game. The Eagles already lost one chance against the Chiefs back in 2023, and now, Hurts and his team have a shot at redemption. They better bring their A-game because the Chiefs are eyeing a historic three-peat.

Taking a peek inside Hurts’ mindset, former QB Cam Newton asked Jalen Hurts, “You’re playing the same opponent. Do you go back and rewatch the game or the Super Bowl?” Hurts responded, “There’s definitely a process where you revisit those things and watch some of those things to get a feel for what the vibe was. We’ve got a big challenge ahead of us, for sure, so you’ve got to be ready for it.

Newton further asked, “You’ve got Saquon. You’ve got A.J. Brown. Devonta Smith. How do you manage expectations from them?” Hurts responded, “I think when you have the pool of talent you have, all the opportunity in front of you, everyone has to be focused on the main thing—the mission that was established long ago: winning. And focusing on just that from a quarterback position and understanding that it’s going to look a thousand different ways.
