Philadelphia Eagles was a team that at the beginning of the regular season looked unbeatable and then met with their first defeat only in Week 6. However, the team has now lost three games on the trot! The surprising element is the fact that they could not score more than 19 points in each of those games. Naturally, fans would want someone to blame for all their woes. Usually, fingers are pointed at the quarterback. But after the loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, many thought the quarterback was pointing fingers at someone else.
How did this go down with fans? While some agreed with him, most were not on the same page. On the latest episode of the SPEAK podcast, T. J. Houshmandzadeh, Joy Taylor, James Jones, and LeSean McCoy, discussed whether Eagles QB Jalen Hurts’ comments about the team not being committed enough were justified.

Many fans had hoped that Jalen Hurts playing through an illness would be his “Michael Jordan flu” moment. But it turned out to be anything but that. Hurts threw 2 interceptions, which was his most in the last 8 games, and recorded only 143 passing yards with his pass completion at 54.8, both of which are his lowest in the entire season so far. “He’s sick,” McCoy started in his defense. But then he was asked if he agreed with what Hurts said.
McCoy defended Hurts by saying that it’s not as if he threw his entire team under the bus and tried to blame them for the Seahawks’ loss. McCoy further went on to explain that being the leader of the team, Hurts’ statement also included blame for himself for the 20-17 loss. According to McCoy, during his media interaction, Hurts didn’t try to play the victim and asked to be cut some slack because he was battling an illness.
But is the recent loss just the symptom of a more pervasive and alarming issue with the Eagles team?

The Eagles escaped criticism because they were winning games
James Jones, a former NBA player and a sports analyst, said that the Eagles have not been playing their best football this year. But no one questioned them because they were winning games. But now that they have lost three games in a row, the cracks are beginning to show. Ahead of the Seahawks game, they had already demoted their defensive coordinator, Sean Desai, and promoted Matt Patricia to the call. Unfortunately, the bet did not pay off.
For the Eagles, losing to the Seahawks will be a bitter pill to swallow, since they haven’t won against the team in 15 years. And in the last eight times that they have played against each other, the Eagles have lost all eight. With just three more games to go for the regular season to end, will Philadelphia manage to turn around their fortunes?
