Is Caleb Williams the chosen one? Bears’ HC Matt Eberflus can’t stop applauding his rookie QB, who’s already being crowned as the franchise’s savior. “He’s pretty accurate there. He can really put his body in different spots, in different angles and it’s pretty amazing,” Eberflus said about Williams’ ability to throw on the run. The Chicago Bears Updates X account shared the coach’s statement, as he raved about the golden arm of his rookie QB.

The hype surrounding the former USC star is off the charts. Chicago fans, starved for a winner, see Williams as the messiah. The 22-year-old has set his sights on GOAT Tom Brady‘s record, aiming for a mind-mending eight Super Bowl rings. “I want to play at one place for 20 years and chase one guy, No. 12,” Williams said on The Pivot podcast.

Chicago has been a dumpster fire. Stuck in A-Rod’s Green Bay-dominated NFC North, Windy City has only snagged one win in the last 11 years. Except for Jim McMahon, star QBs like Justin Fields, Jay Cutler, and Jim Harbaugh weren’t able to take the team to a Super Bowl win.

Williams’ arrival has fueled excitement in Chicago. He has got the arm talent, the swagger, and, thanks to GM Ryan Poles, a solid supporting cast. If the 2022 Heisman winner’s preseason play is any hint, the Bears’ future seems bright. With key weapons like Keenan Allen and D’Andre Swift, this rookie QB can likely turn Chicago into a winning franchise.

Caleb Williams definitely has talent and NFL experts are weighing in on his winning potential.

The Chicago Bears are all in on Williams. The rookie QB is the golden boy, the savior, the franchise’s future, but experts have divided opinions. Mark Schlereth, a grizzled NFL veteran, is pouring cold water on the generational talent hype.

“I see the talent, there’s no question about the talent. But generational talent doesn’t mean generational quarterback,” he warns. “Look at Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees. None were considered generational, but they’re all legends.” Schlereth’s point? There’s more to being a QB than just raw talent.

On the other side, we have the scouting reports. Dane Brugler sees a Mahomes-esque playmaker in the former USC QB but with a tad bit of overconfidence. Brugler highlighted Williams’ poise and mobility but said that he needs to keep his attitude on the low-key side. “He must masterfully buy time and create second-chance plays, although he tends to be overconfident in his ability to find answers among the chaos.”

Per Lance Zierlein’s scouting report, Chicago’s No. 1 pick has got incredible athleticism, but his decision-making isn’t too good. “Williams is tremendously talented but often bites off too much responsibility and plays off-schedule,” emphasized Zierlein.

So, where does that leave us? Williams clearly has the knack, the team, and the hype. But the leap from being a college star to an NFL superstar is going to be huge. Can he iron out his flaws and become the face of a Super Bowl-winning team? Let’s wait and watch.
