Skip Bayless gets his predictions true most of the time if one keeps aside his take on Aaron Rodgers‘ Christmas return. Just like in the latest Dallas Cowboys vs Miami Dolphins, he, despite being the Cowboys superfan, predicted a win for the Phins. And that exactly happened. On Sunday, Miami defeated Dallas 22-20. But what about the future MVP?

Since the start of the league, football enthusiasts and sports analysts have been buzzing their favorites on MVPs. Bayless, too, recently predicted his choice of MVP. The sports columnist made his stance clear on the MVP picture, highlighting Brock Purdy, Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields, and Dak Prescott‘s performance this season.

In a recent episode of ‘The Undisputed,’ Skip Bayless, Richard Sherman, and Keyshawn Johnson discussed a major subject- the NFL MVP race. Bayless opinionated Baltimore Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson’s securing the award this season after the Week 16 results. Bayless expressed his admiration for Jackson as the star player this season, highlighting, “He is the leader, the playmaker, the driving force of the Ravens in the locker room on the sideline, in the huddle and with the football in his hands.

He continued, “And if you look hard at his stats, he has rushed the ball for 786 yards and among quarterbacks that’s 231 yards more than anybody else. Justin Fields is second, so he is dominating, running the football as a quarterback.” Bayless compared Jackson’s MVP candidacy to Dak Prescott’s, pointing out that while Prescott has more touchdown passes (30) than Brock Purdy (29) too, recent performances have not supported his MVP case. As for Purdy, his MVP case indeed lost momentum amid multiple mistakes in the 49ers’ devastating Christmas loss to the Ravens.

He also considered the challenges Jackson has faced, losing key players like Mark Andrews and several running backs throughout the season. Despite not having the offensive firepower of some other teams, Bayless sees Jackson leading the Ravens to a string finish, predicting a 14-3 record and the number 1 seed in the AFC. Bayless concluded that, despite a lower overall status, Lamar Jackson deserves the MVP title for being the most valuable player in the league.

But will Lamar Jackson be the next MVP, despite his non-dominant statistical profile?

This is why Lamar Jackson needs to be the NFL MVP next!

The 2023 season has been challenging for offenses, making the MVP race wide-open. While Tyreek Hill was a non-quarterback contender, his chances decreased as he may not reach 2,000 receiving yards. The MVP focus is back on quarterbacks, causing a competitive field with no clear frontrunner. Initially, Brock Purdy led the race, but after a tough game against the Ravens, Lamar Jackson is now the top MVP contender.

Purdy’s four INTs likely eliminated his historic MVP chances. Jackson’s performance against the Niners secured a crucial road win, keeping the Ravens in contention for the AFC’s top seed and boosting his MVP votes. Although his overall stats may not be as dominant as in his 2019 MVP season, his impact on the Ravens’ offense is evident. He enables the offensive line to handle pass protection challenges, retains his trademark mobility, and displays accuracy on the field with 96.7 passer rating. These factors arguably place him on course for his second MVP award, for sure. What’s your take on this?
