Lamar Jackson: The best in the NFL or just another overhyped player? Let's hear your thoughts!

Lamar Jackson called Mark Andrews his “bread and butter” after his season-ending injury. Imagine what the Baltimore Ravens fans felt when their hopes were taken away due to their coveted Tight End suffering unshakable injuries in week 11 last year. The worst is over, and he’s left his fibula fracture and ligament tear behind and is just focused on the new season of football. However, his journey has been full of support from his family.

Mark Andrews became a hard sight to come by so when the journos got to him in a recent press conference, they had to bridge the knowledge gap that Andrews left after he took a short hiatus from the field. Rehab is not easy when you’re coming back from a broken foot. Luckily, Mark is making full use of the presence of his father and his brother.

“My brother was covering me and my dad…We have the ball machine, so he’s the quarterback on that thing. He’s a sniper on that,” said Andrews recalling some fun training time at home. Hopefully, his reconditioned body does well on the field this year because their season opener is against the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that gave Lamar Jackson a “chip on his shoulder.”

Let’s talk about Andrews’ injury for a moment. The hip-drop tackle was the culprit behind the injury as Logan Wilson proceeded to tackle the TE and broke his fibula in the process. Obviously, the TE played briefly in the game amassing just 23 yards over two targets and no touchdowns. Fortunately, the Ravens ended up winning that game 34-20, but evidently; the team was left scarred ahead of the game to come. Andrews had to undergo an ankle surgery to fix what was broken.

The TE during this off-season has done a lot of conditioning exercises and some Pilates. It’s Mark Andrews’ seventh season in the league and believe it or not, the TE hasn’t witnessed anything so ‘Lamarvelous’ in his NFL career and he isn’t shy of showing love to No. 8 either.

No matter what happens, good or bad, Lamar Jackson must have every answer for the Ravens fans. Being a captain of the Baltimore Ravens demands a lot, and so far, Jackson is doing a heck of a job at his position. Perhaps that’s why Mark Andrews is such a huge Jackson fan. So much so that he declared him the best in the world.

“I think Lamar is just like everybody else,” said Andrews and noted, “One, he’s the most special player in the world, you know, there’s no one like him. He’s the best quarterback in the NFL and he continues to show why he’s labeled that. For me, in my head he’s constantly making the big plays, constantly making the right decisions and leading us guys.”

Even in the last season, Lamar Jackson was crowned the MVP and finished his season with most rushing yards (821). It would not be a hyperbole to say that the 2x MVP had his best season last year. When Jackson said Andrews was Ravens’ “bread and butter,” he didn’t lie because after he cracked his fibula in the week 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the TE returned to play against the Kansas City Chiefs, though, for a brief moment only.

Andrews recorded 2 receptions over 15 yards, but in his condition failed to score. Now, he’s ready to bounce back and, coincidentally, things will pick up where he left them. Excitement is in the air as the Ravens open their regular season with their first game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Can they turn the tide around this time?
