The Miami Dolphins are gearing up for an action-packed game on Christmas Eve against the Dallas Cowboys. Since both teams are 10-4, and at the top of their respective divisions, it will be a nail-biting game that could swing in either team’s favor till the last second is up. Another match will be simultaneously playing out between star receiver Tyreek Hill and Micah Parsons, who have a long-standing rivalry.

But before we tackle the Hill-Parsons rivalry, NFL teams have interesting stories behind their names. From the Green Bay Packers being named after a packing company to the San Francisco 49ers being named after the year 1849, when the California Gold Rush took place. So, what’s the story behind the name of the team?

It might sound strange now, but the Miami Dolphins could very well have been known as the Philadelphia Dolphins. The original owners of the team wanted to set up their franchise with Philadelphia as their base. But the AFL commissioner discussed it at length with the ownership group and convinced them to move to some other place since Philly already had the Eagles. So, what did they settle on? The owners decided to base their team out of South Beach, as southern Florida did not have any football team at the time.

When it came to naming the team, they went down the easy path and hosted a “naming” competition. Over 622 people suggested “Dolphins”. And that’s how the Miami team was christened the “Dolphins”. Joe Robbie, who was one of the owners, said that he loved the name as “The dolphin is one of the fastest and smartest creatures in the sea.”

And with the way they have performed this year, it seems that they have lived up to their name. But can Hill manage to win against Parsons in the upcoming matchup?

Who will win the Tyreek vs. Micah rivalry?

Everyone knows about the feud between Micah Parsons and Tyreek Hill, who calls himself the “Cheetah”. Before the season began, Tyreek had tweeted that he would beat Micah in a one-on-one race and prove that he is the better player when the teams face off against each other on Christmas Eve. Now the game is just a few days away.

Parsons reignited the feud when he tweeted, “Tyreek knows I am faster than him.” He also said that since the game was going to take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, Hill showed his generosity by booking tickets for Parsons’ entire family. Two years ago, at the “fastest man challenge” at the Pro Bowl, Parsons beat Hill in a race. Now the December 24  game will be a rematch of sorts.
